You are bidding on a vintage No. 5? Palmgren machinists drill press vise. It is approximately 4 3/4" overall with the jaws closed and 1 13/16" tall at the jaws. The jaws are approximately 1 1/2" wide x 1" deep x 1 5/8" full open. I believe this is a No. 5 from checking the dimensions against some other No. 5 vises. It looks to be in very good used condition in my opinion. The bottom has writing etched into it. There are a few minor scratches dings. Dents, finger prints and stains. Up for sale is this vintage Palmgren tilting vise. Measuring 8" long and 2-1/2" wide at the base. It has 2-7/16" wide jaws, with a 3-1/16" capacity. The jaws work smoothly and effortlessly with no binding. The tilting feature is capable of a 90 degree tilt as pictured, but you will need to lube it some more to make it work more smoothly. No. 6- 1 1/2' jaws, in excellent used condition; then a Craftsman with 2 1/2' wide jaws; in good working condition, with more wear as shown. There is a small hairline crack in the casting, as shown in the next to last picture; it does not affect the efficacy of the jaw clamping. Both vises go in and out like butter, very nice. Also included are three metal machinist clamps; a No. 161-B Starrett clamp, and two others, marked with the numbers 147 and 156, don't know the significance. Please e-mail with any questions. I had to put a new piece of tape around the box to keep it together and the paperwork looks like something was munching on it. The paperwork still has some readable parts left.
