Dirty vice was in storage a long time. Needs a cleanup but does work ok as it is. I donot have the wrench for it. Needs a 9/16" wrench. When I cranked the vice open and closed I felt a drag about 25% around each turn. Could be dirt. Not serious but mentioning it nevertheless. One ear is broken off the top mount which is not used in this set-up. It is still usable if ever needed. The base is the main hold-down mount here. 2 bolts lock the vice in position. If you ever wanted to change the angle you would only have to loosen the 2 side bolts. Change the angle. Snug the bolts back up. Desmond Stephan Simplex 43P Vise - 4.75" Jaws - Parker Collar Style Vice
Up for sale is a Desmond Stephan Simplex 43P vise. 4.75" wide jaws. 7.25" opening, 55 lbs, stationary base. It's a good solid old vise. There's about 1/2 turn of slack between tightening& loosening when you swing the handle. It's mostly due to the front collar design, there is also a little slack in the threads. I shimmed the mainscrew nut with a very thin piece of aluminum so it is in there good and tight. I didn't have a thin enough washer to put on the mainscrew face, if you find one you can probably get a little more slack out of it. I honestly think it is fine as-is, I have two other vises with the same design and they have the same amount of slack. You can see from the pics it's date stampped 1-40(January 1940) Made right at the beginning of World War II. The 21 I'm guess is a production number ... moreso they can keep the same parts worked together. The front Parker-style collar came to me broken. The previous owner admitting to me they were pounding on the handle with a hammer to try and get the slide open(it was seized) Took a week or so of letting Kroil soak on the slide to get it free. Obviously the front collar isn't designed for any force, it's just to hold the mainscrew in place as your open the vise. After blasting the parts clean I used some JB Weld to bond the two broken parts together. After that cured I drilled& tapped two holes on top and used a couple screws with red loctitie to hold everything together just to be super sure. Check the pictures for a couple close-ups so you can see what I'm talking about. I had some extra JB Weld mixed up from the collar repair so I figured I would fill in a little wear on the top front of the dynamic jaw. I think they must of used a torch a bunch. It looked like it was just eroded way right in the middle. The static jaw wasn't as bad so I left it as-is. It was completely disassembled and blasted to bare metal. Vintage Clamp-On Bench Vice 2-1/4" wide jaws x 2" max. opening
This is a neat little old clamp-on bench vice. It's definitely got some age to it. And after some cleaning, and greasing, it works smoothly and looks great. I didn't want to overclean it.Still has some patina. Though, as any old tool should. I can't find any manufacturers mark or name on it. But it seems high quality and pretty heavy for it's size. 1982 Duracraft 4" Swivel Bench Mount Vise MV-440 ( Wilton knock off vice. )
This vise was manufactured by Duracraft and is obviously intended to be a Wilton clone. While it's not as good a brand as a Wilton it also won't be as expensive as one and still. It actually feels like a halfway decent vise. The action is smooth, no snags in the main screw at all. One finger easy spin out and one finger easy spin in. I did take it apart, cleaned it up inside and out, gave it a thorough inspection and finally reassembled it with synthetic lube on the friction surfaces. It's ready to work, I saw no structural damage anywhere, just the usual surface blemishes from a working tool that you can see in the photos. There's no owner markings. So, while I lay no claims that this is anywhere near the most heavy-duty vise available it may certainly be an excellent value vise for your home shop. I see no markings but is sure looks like a Heinrich. From the mfg site: Ideal base structure for jigs and fixtures Diaphram type. Spring return air cylinder. Holding power, 15X air pressure. Example: 1500 lbs. at 100psi. Amount of pressure may be controlled to suit the operation by use of an air regulator. Maximum travel after setting- 3/8" For efficient operation 1/16" travel is recommended. Ratchet operated. Kurt II 4" CNC Vice
Kurt II precision ground 4" CNC vice. Model PT-400. Came from a CNC shop, and I cleaned it up in kerosene, cleaned out all the chips from bearing surfaces, and lubed and kept with WD-40. Vice comes with speed handle not pictured, works well. Comes with 4 new stainless steel jaw screws, but no jaws. You will have to make jaws or buy some from Kurt. Easily and cheaply done. This is a serious piece of precision workholding, ground on all sides, easily fits on a bridgeport for nice setups. I am only selling this as it will not fit on my main machine now, a small Taig milling machine. It's ridiculously large on it. If you want the best vice money can buy, buy a Kurt. If you want the nicest Kurt vice for all uses, get yourself one of these, a Kurt II. RESTORED Wilton Bullet Swivel Bench Vise 4" Jaws 50 lbs.1971 Made in USA vice
This is the last vise you'll ever buy. Unless you want more than one of course. This old vise is a real beauty. Big and heavy too. That is no small tree stump it's resting on. It wasn't this pretty when I got it. It had sat in a garage for who knows how long. It had about a 1/8" of house paint and crud all over it. It was just begging to be brought back to life. I cleaned it up as much as I could with soap and water and then media blasted it down to bare metal along with some wire brushing. It was completely disassembled. Everything that is removable was removed. After some time in the solvent tank, clean and apart, I could give it a thorough inspection. I was happy to find that the metal is still in fantastic condition. No cracks, no welds and no repairs. That's what you want. You can see it all stripped down in the ... morelast photo. After every piece was completely cleaned and prepped I was able to begin the refinishing. I chose Italian Olive for the color and applied a baked on enamel finish. It should hold up very well. The vise is quite handsome in person. None of these photos capture the color well in my opinion, it's more attractive when you see it. You'll also be stunned at its size and weight the first time you handle it. All of the moving mechanisms and friction surfaces have been freshly lubed with blue, synthetic grease. This vise is ready for decades of hard work. The action is simply fantastic on it. Your eyebrows will lift the first time you screw it in and out. I promise. It's hard to believe how well vises were made back in the day after getting used to the junk sold today in big-box stores. This vise has smooth face jaws and they are in nice shape. You won't need to change them for a very long time. However, a couple of the jaw screws are kind of bunged up where the Phillips screwdriver goes in. Littlestown 4.25" Jaws No. 400 Swivel Mount Bench Vise 24 Lbs Made in USA Vice
This vise was manufactured by Littlestown but sorry to say I have no idea when. I imagine it's fairly old. It cleaned up decently and will be a good working tool for somebody. It's actually bigger than you think. Do not expect a tiny vise even though other vises of this style are a notch or two down in size. This is not a small one. It looks decent and works perfectly fine, there are no issues with the mechanics on it. However, not all is perfect in Littlestown. If you look at the photos you can see a chunk of iron fell out underneath the dynamic(Front. jaw. This happens when somebody strikes downward with either too large a hammer or too much force. It's not uncommon to see this damage on vises. It could have easily happened decades ago. It genuinely has no bearing on the vise's performance, most of the jaw shelf is still ... morepresent and the jaw remains perfectly solid in place. Try not to smash it with your 5 pound sledge though. I did do a thorough cleaning on this with some fresh. Baked on enamel. The color is a deep, metallic green and it looks nice with a touch of sparkle. It's ready to go to work for you and I see no reason it won't last many, many years. This has to be the coolest. Machinist-made, mill/drill press type vise I've EVER found! I don't really want to sell it-which is why I have the price so high! Features include 4.5" wide jaws, max opening of 5" stands" about 2.15" tall, quick release/adjust mechanism, circular opening on bottom of jaws to accommodate a bolt head or something similar, open bottom to both lower height of object to drill/mill and allow taller objects, internal opening of 3.5" by 5" If you examine pictures 2, 7 and 9, you will see the raised lever/catch. Raising the lever allows you to slide the moving jaw close to the object to drill/mill. Then the lever is lowered into one of the many grooves cut into the"screw" to lock the screw in place and the knob is then turned normally to further tighten the moving jaw to ... moresecure the object(see pic 4) It takes a tenth of the time to do it as to describe it! Vintage 1-3/4" Jeweler's miniature smooth-jaw restored vise gunsmith vice
Up for bids is an old 1-3/4" bench-mount(clamp) jeweler's vise which has been nicely restored and repaired. When I say repaired-nothing was done for repairs except for improving its function as a vise. The vise was completely disassembled before the poorly finished surface was massaged with a rol-loc disk to remove the extra flashing which was never taken off at the factory. Speaking of factory briefly-there are no makers marks on this vise-so I cannot adequately state where it was made or when. Back to the condition-after the flashing marks were cleaned up. The edges of the jaw teeth were trued to one another so they all matched before they were hand-filed and sanded. As you can see-the jaw teeth are smooth, not serrated so that whatever small instruments or jewelry you're working on will not be damaged. The jaws close nice ... moreand true-although there is admittedly slight play in these small vises from the factory which cannot be corrected without re-machining of the slide posts and receiver slots. Following cleanup of the jaws, the small hammer marks on top of the jaws and anvil surface were smoothed out and removed. Afterward the vise pieces were sandblasted before being etch primed and sprayed with metallic gold and clear coated. There is NO clearcoat on the bare metal parts as I hope this little piece will be used by a craftsman somewhere out there. Everything on this vise works very nicely and it looks to match its function and intention. If you have any questions, please ask. Parker Number 32 VISE VICE Machinist Bench 3 1/4" wide jaws This would be a very nice vise to restore. Collect. There is some scaring on the sides and top of the jaws from sawing. There are small nicks and dings as can be seen in the pictures. One jaw near the bottom looks different from the other(not as tall) I am not sure if it was made this way or it is worn. The screw and nut are in nice shape. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs. No welds. It is 14" long. 6 1/4" wide, 6 1/4" high. I think 4 1/4" would be the max this vise could clamp. It will open farther. Weighs 20 lbs. This vise will come shipped disassembled so it can fit into the large USPS flat rate box.
