It has two features which make it unique; The first is that it doesn't have metal jaws but ones made from polypropylene. This is a dense. Plastic-like material which isn't aggressive on softer surfaces. Excellent for holding things like circuit boards and model parts. The second feature is that this vise is reversible. That means. If you need extra distance you can unscrew the dynamic jaw so that it's completely free, swivel the main body 180 degrees and then thread it into the rear side. Desmond Stephan Simplex 43P Vise - 4.75" Jaws - Parker Collar Style Vice
Up for sale is a Desmond Stephan Simplex 43P vise. 4.75" wide jaws. 7.25" opening, 55 lbs, stationary base. It's a good solid old vise. There's about 1/2 turn of slack between tightening& loosening when you swing the handle. It's mostly due to the front collar design, there is also a little slack in the threads. I shimmed the mainscrew nut with a very thin piece of aluminum so it is in there good and tight. I didn't have a thin enough washer to put on the mainscrew face, if you find one you can probably get a little more slack out of it. I honestly think it is fine as-is, I have two other vises with the same design and they have the same amount of slack. You can see from the pics it's date stampped 1-40(January 1940) Made right at the beginning of World War II. The 21 I'm guess is a production number ... moreso they can keep the same parts worked together. The front Parker-style collar came to me broken. The previous owner admitting to me they were pounding on the handle with a hammer to try and get the slide open(it was seized) Took a week or so of letting Kroil soak on the slide to get it free. Obviously the front collar isn't designed for any force, it's just to hold the mainscrew in place as your open the vise. After blasting the parts clean I used some JB Weld to bond the two broken parts together. After that cured I drilled& tapped two holes on top and used a couple screws with red loctitie to hold everything together just to be super sure. Check the pictures for a couple close-ups so you can see what I'm talking about. I had some extra JB Weld mixed up from the collar repair so I figured I would fill in a little wear on the top front of the dynamic jaw. I think they must of used a torch a bunch. It looked like it was just eroded way right in the middle. The static jaw wasn't as bad so I left it as-is. It was completely disassembled and blasted to bare metal. I used the Rustoleum Hammered Green(I think) And lettered with a gloss black oil-based sharpie. Sinc

This is a neat little old clamp-on bench vice. It's definitely got some age to it. And after some cleaning, and greasing, it works smoothly and looks great. I didn't want to overclean it.Still has some patina. Though, as any old tool should. I can't find any manufacturers mark or name on it. But it seems high quality and pretty heavy for it's size. RESTORED Wilton Bullet Swivel Bench Vise 4" Jaws 50 lbs.1971 Made in USA vice
This is the last vise you'll ever buy. Unless you want more than one of course. This old vise is a real beauty. Big and heavy too. That is no small tree stump it's resting on. It wasn't this pretty when I got it. It had sat in a garage for who knows how long. It had about a 1/8" of house paint and crud all over it. It was just begging to be brought back to life. I cleaned it up as much as I could with soap and water and then media blasted it down to bare metal along with some wire brushing. It was completely disassembled. Everything that is removable was removed. After some time in the solvent tank, clean and apart, I could give it a thorough inspection. I was happy to find that the metal is still in fantastic condition. No cracks, no welds and no repairs. That's what you want. You can see it all stripped down in the ... morelast photo. After every piece was completely cleaned and prepped I was able to begin the refinishing. I chose Italian Olive for the color and applied a baked on enamel finish. It should hold up very well. The vise is quite handsome in person. None of these photos capture the color well in my opinion, it's more attractive when you see it. You'll also be stunned at its size and weight the first time you handle it. All of the moving mechanisms and friction surfaces have been freshly lubed with blue, synthetic grease. This vise is ready for decades of hard work. The action is simply fantastic on it. Your eyebrows will lift the first time you screw it in and out. I promise. It's hard to believe how well vises were made back in the day after getting used to the junk sold today in big-box stores. This vise has smooth face jaws and they are in nice shape. You won't need to change them for a very long time. However, a couple of the jaw screws are kind of bunged up where the Phillips screwdriver goes in. This vise was manufactured by Littlestown but sorry to say I have no idea when. I imagine it's fairly old. It cleaned up decently and will be a good working tool for somebody. It's actually bigger than you think. Do not expect a tiny vise even though other vises of this style are a notch or two down in size. This is not a small one. It looks decent and works perfectly fine, there are no issues with the mechanics on it. However, not all is perfect in Littlestown. If you look at the photos you can see a chunk of iron fell out underneath the dynamic(Front. jaw. This happens when somebody strikes downward with either too large a hammer or too much force. It's not uncommon to see this damage on vises. It could have easily happened decades ago. It genuinely has no bearing on the vise's performance, most of the jaw shelf is still ... morepresent and the jaw remains perfectly solid in place. Try not to smash it with your 5 pound sledge though. I did do a thorough cleaning on this with some fresh. Baked on enamel. The color is a deep, metallic green and it looks nice with a touch of sparkle. It's ready to go to work for you and I see no reason it won't last many, many years. RESTORED: Vintage Craftsman Bench Mount Swivel Vise 5" Jaws Made In USA vice
This is a big boy. It's a wee bit disconcerting when you first see it too. Typically when you see a vise of this style it will be a smallish 3.5" home owner's variety. But then your eyes are forced to accept the fact that this one is fundamentally larger. The difference between a 3.5" vise and a 5" one is fairly extreme. This vise is 15" long and stands over 8" tall. It opens to a staggering 7" There's no getting around the fact that this is a large and heavy vise. Speaking of weight. This clocks in at an even 40 pounds. Unfortunately that's going to make shipping on the high side so my apologies there, wish it wasn't that way, believe me. Now. Let's talk about this vise up for sale here. First off, the colors are Almond on the bottom and Navy Blue on the top. It's quite a contrast, ... moremight not be your cup of tea but it looks nice in person I think. There's three coats of each color enamel here, all of which were baked on at 200 degrees for a half hour. This system seems to be durable as far as paint goes, it's served me well at least. It opens and closes nicely. I'm not going to go on describing it too much because you have eyes and there's a dozen large photos to see that will do a far better job than my typing. There is a nice battle scar on this vise. You can easily see it. You probably already have. It's a nick where a person using a saw accidentally sliced partially into the cast iron of the stationary jaw. I really put some stress on the vise here and it's not budging. Unless you go beating on it with a five pound sledge(Please don't do that. I do not believe it's going to have any effect on using it. It looked to me like this cut has been on the vise a very long time and it's held up just fine so far. Also, the handle is not 100% straight but fairly close. The unique feature here is the pivoting rear jaw. How many pivot jaw vises have you seen? Not many I'm guessing even though they're out there. Few and far between, from different manufacturers. But now, how many pivot jaw Columbian vises have you seen? I'm betting none. I've seen an awful lot of vises and I've never even heard of one of these. I was totally unaware of its existence until I happened upon this one. The paint was stripped and after I had it down to bare metal I was able to give it a thorough inspection and was very happy to find that this is a rock solid example of an incredibly unique vise in wonderful condition. ... moreThere's no structural damage anywhere. No cracking, no welds, no repairs, nothing beyond some surface nicks you'd expect to see in any lightly used vise. After surface prep I applied two coats of primer followed by three coats of enamel. Each one being baked on for 30 minutes at 200 degrees. This is a tested system which has always provided durable finishes for me in the past. After the paint had cured and the steel parts were cleaned I could begin assembly. Everything was carefully reassembled with attention to detail. Friction surfaces received a light coating of synthetic lubricant which should last a very long time. Every moving part on this vise works with ease and precision that screams quality of craftsmanship. The handle takes light. One finger pressure to screw in and out. The pivot jaw rotates without resistance. Everything works perfectly and as it should. The jaws are in very fine shape with little wear. 1980 Wilton Swivel Bench Bullet Vise 3 1/2" Jaws 39 Lbs Made In USA vice
Full specs at the bottom of listing. THIS VISE HAS A MISSING JAW SUPPORT SHELF. More on this below. This is a 1980 Wilton 3 1/2" swivel bench vise. This isn't like 3 1/2" vises you've seen before. Most of the vises in this size are quite small. This one is anything but small. Definitely a good sized vise with plenty of holding power. In fact, both the seller and myself believed this to be a 4" vise. It wasn't until I measured the jaws that I realized it had 3.5" jaws. I mean, honestly, it's a 3 1/2" vise that weighs almost 40 pounds! These are among the most heavy duty 3 1/2" vises ever sold and this is from one of Wilton's best generations in my opinion. Great looks and great performance from a reasonable sized package. This is going to be a beauty on anybody's bench. Now let's talk ... morea little about the elephant in the room. The missing jaw shelf. Nothing is perfect, not even Wilton. If anything they're guilty of making too good a vise. The tolerance between the jaw and shelf is tighter than your typical vise. This can sometimes pose a problem and I've seen it more on Wiltons than on other vises. In my experience it seems to affect the rear jaw most of the time. Basically when a person uses too big a hammer and strikes downward too hard it can crack the support shelf beneath the jaw. Sometimes it chips just a corner and sometimes, as in this case, the entire shelf will break free. This will never happen if a vise isn't abused and hitting any vise hard with a heavy hammer is just asking for trouble. But this vise did have that happen and here we are. Let me tell you one thing though; this will never, ever cause any problems if this vise is used as intended, as a vise. If you don't whale into your work with a giant hammer you'll never know this support is missing. In addition to the two jaw bolts there's also a hard steel metal dowel sliding through the center of each jaw and into the body to further assist in support. I repeat; unless

They are precision vises and are built to the highest tolerances. While American vises take a brute force approach, the English vises are all about a fine touch. I don't really understand what I just said there but when you use one you'll get the feeling that it's a decidedly European approach to work-holding and that's definitely not a bad thing. Record vise enthusiasts are a dedicated lot also, they swear by them. This is a 5VS model and it's a big boy. Giant 5" jaws and beefy at nearly 50 pounds. During its production run this was one of their top tier vises. It's just hard to get any better. This vise looks exceptionally clean and there's a reason for that. Wilton Tradesman 1750 Swivel Combination Bench Vise 5" Jaws 43 Lbs. bullet vice
Full specs at the bottom of listing. I suggest you bolt this one down quick because this vise looks like it's ready to speed off. I've painted hundreds of vises and. To be perfectly honest, it can get a little boring so it's fun to mix things up. I decided that a nice set of racing stripes could be interesting and I think it looks pretty amazing actually. The gray color is Satin Granite Enamel and the stripe/base color is called Satin Pimento but it looks to me like orange with a little red in it. It's a very nice looking combination and is immediately striking in person. The paint is three coats, applied to warm cast iron and each application was baked on at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. I really like this method and I think you will too. The entire vise was disassembled. Stripped of old paint and cleaned inside and out. All ... moreof the steel hardware was cleaned as well. I put all new threaded fasteners on this vise; jaw screws, collar screws and swivel lock bolts. All of the female threads were chased with a tap and work smoothly. The jaws, as you can see, are in very nice condition and line up parallel and flush, just as they should. Everything was put back together with synthetic grease on the friction surfaces. No paint is on any friction surface by the way. To cap things off brand new Wilton foil decals and rubber finger savers were installed. I need to mention that this was a well used vise when I got it. I know it looks nice but please don't expect to receive a brand new vise and this one was obviously in service. Things like the handle is not 100% straight. But it's very close. You'll find little nicks from tools here and there, mostly on the anvil area and towards the top front of the round bare-metal slide. I don't mean to scare anybody off, this is a fine working tool with no deal-breaking issues at all, it's simply that this vise wasn't kept in a crib but used as intended. It had jaw covers on it when I brought it home and that explains why the steel jaw insert faces are as fantastic as they are. I love finding them like this. Makes my job easy. I have nothing negative to report here. The jaws line up flush and perfect, even clamping pressure across the board. To me that's the most important aspect of any vise because if it doesn't clamp well then it isn't much of a vise. As you most likely very well know I gave this vise a very thorough restoration as I do pretty much all the vises I put up for auction. You know the drill; strip the paint with gel. Quick media blast, inspection, warm the cast iron pieces in an oven, spray on three coats of each color, bake each coat at ... more200 degrees for 30 minutes, clean the steel hardware up and reassemble with synthetic lubricant. Very nice 40" heavy post/ Leg vice. The jaws are 5 inches wide. It was made in Cleveland Ohio by the Columbian Vice Company. This vice has been used but is in good shape for it's age and purpose. The previous owner had welded the U clamp to his desired height but an expert farmer I know was kind enough to remove the weld and free the clamp. good as new! Vintage York 125 Bench Vise 5" Jaws with Swivel Base / Wilton Bullet Style Vice
Up for sale is a vintage York bench vise with 5" wide jaws that has been meticulously restored. It weighs a little over 37 lbs. The vise was disassembled completely. Media blasted inside& out, two coats of primer, and two coats of Rustoleum Hammered Light Blue. Bare metal such as the jaws, handle, and slide were polished and coated with paste wax. The inside of the vise was primered to prevent rust, as was the bottom of the base. Threads and swivel area have been greased well. It's ready to be bolted to your work bench and put to use! This vise was made in Czechoslovakia and is the vise design that Wilton started their business from back in the 40's. The company is still in business. You can check out their website at There are no repairs. Cracks, etc. There are a few dents& dings as you can see in the pictures from typical ... moreuse. Handle is straight but has a few little gnaw marks on it. I could have smoothed some of the rough spots in the casting out but I like to leave everything as original as possible. Note that because this is a foreign made vise, everything is metric thread. It's all original except I got some nice new shiny nuts for the lock-downs, I still have the original ones and I will ship them with the vise. I really hate to sell this vise but I'm trying to thin down my personal collection. I'll be listing a few more vises in the coming weeks so be sure to check them out. If you want to purchase more than one I can try to combine shipping but it will probably end up being freight. I find that shipping via Fastenal is the cheapest. This is another one that honestly took more effort than I intended it to and the time really got away from me. When one area is made to look nice it can make other parts look shabby sitting next to it so I need to keep moving from one part to the next until the vise is nice as a whole. I'll get into details in a moment but I honestly have a lot more effort into this one than I can reasonably expect to recoup. The bright side is that the finished product is a great looking and great working tool that will provide great service for decades to come. Year after year after year. The 4" jaw model is a great size too, right at home in lighter industrial or on your home work bench. It's big but not too big for most users. This one turned out nice too. The jaws are good, clamping pressure is superb and the action is light and smooth just how you want it to be. You can spin it all the way in and out with your little finger easily, no tight spots anywhere in the travel. I can't imagine anybody being disappointed with this vise. Lets talk about what was done here. First off this vise was very. Very dirty and greasy when it came into my hands. It needed a hot water, Simple Green scrub down just to get started. Then the cast iron pieces were placed in my electrolysis tank for over a day to remove all of the surface oxidation. Then it was stripped with aviation gel stripper and given another bath. At this point I was able to give it a really thorough inspection and, thankfully, the iron pieces were in good shape. It has no structural damage and no welds or repairs. I did a little smoothing, it didn't take much, and then the metal was prepped and warmed in an oven to 200 °. Thr

Here's your chance to own a gigantic Ridgid 80SN vise! The jaws are 8" wide. 1-3/4" tall, and 1" deep! This is a late-model Ridgid that is really a rebadged Columbian vise. It has the T style jaws that are pinned in(which are more desirable than the later-style thinner jaws just screwed in) IF YOU WANT ADDITIONAL PICTURES OF SOMETHING. PLEASE MESSAGE ME AND I'LL DO MY BEST TO GET THEM UP. Both of the lock-down handles are messed up as you can see in the picture. The swivel base is seized. I don't know what it will take to get it to swivel again, I never messed with it. I have some new handles that I will include, I have no idea if the threads are still good on those existing bolts because they are slathered in paint. So consider that a little DIY project. There are some beat marks on the front of the dynamic face also the back of the static. As big and thick as everything is, these are merely cosmetic. Welds/ repairs, or anything like that. Besides the above mentioned issues it's a solid as a rock. Proudly MADE IN THE USA! I really hate to sell this vise. It is the pride of my collection. But unfortunately I just don't have the room for it, nor do I have the time to properly restore it. Hopefully it can find a home where someone can give it some TLC then put it to good use. Wilton Bullet Swivel Bench Vise 5" Jaws 93 Lbs 1985 Made In USA 500S 500 vice

Everything about it seems out of scale for a person's size perception of Wilton bench vises. I think most people have probably seen a 4" bullet. Maybe a 4 1/2" version and let me tell you, those vises are big but they're not even in the same league as this one. The five and six inch Wiltons are in a size class of their own. All I can try to hammer down is that the photos won't prepare you for the real thing. It's BIG, BIG, BIG! It's nearly two feet long. I hope you have a good size bench to mount this because you're gonna need it. At 1985. To me, this Wilton is still a baby and is just getting started out in life. It's ... moresafe to say this vise is going to outlast us. and several generations of our heirs. Don't be surprised if your kids start being extra nice to you. This vise is fresh, clean and eager for activity, its youth is showing. Once you're able to digest its massiveness you'll find this to be an incredibly pleasant vise to live with day to day. Like any high-end Wilton this vise is very happy to open& close, swivel and clamp down on things as hard as you like. They just love to work hard and ask for more. This particular vise belonged to an older fella who had retired sometime in the 90's. He just stopped using it and it sat, that explains the condition.
