Up for Sale is a Vintage 1970's HP(Hewlett Packard) Model 5233L Frequency Counter. I was able to measure the frequency of a power transformer at 60 Hz. No other testing was performed. I will sell this Frequency Counter for Parts or Repair. But based on this simple test we performed, I believe it to be functional as a frequency counter. The Nixie tubes are probably worth the starting price not to count the various PC Boards inside. The Cooling Fan is operational as well. The only flaw I noticed, is that someone has soldered the power cord wires to the push on power connector. Please review Photos. HP 5340A Frequency Counter 10Hz-18GHz, Option 001
The counter is fully functional as much as I can test. Both input ports work. Counts up to 2GHz. Which is as high as I can go. I used it a few years ago over 10-12GHz but don't have the generator any more. The 001 option is an oven stabilized reference. Which also is working. I do not have a NIST standard so it may be a few PPM off. The only electrical issue I can find is that one of the decimal point drivers has a little leakage which makes it light up slightly. I tried to bring it out in the photo. The DP to the left of the 2 is correct. The one to the left of the 3 is slightly illuminated. Not a big deal. But should be noted. Inside it is clean. For the week of June 9 only. Will ship no earlier than June 16.

It is shown connected to a Rubidium standard source-locked Rohde SMT03 signal generator set to 3.0GHz and 100MHz at-27dBm which shows that it has good sensitivity(specification is-27dBm) I have checked the range from 5KHz(lower limit of generator) all the way to 3.0GHz. Which allows the unit to talk to other HP test equipment via the HP-Interface Bus(no cable) This item is in good used condition. It shows some marks from use and storage. However there are no major damages to the unit, and no damages that affect its operation. This unit has been checked for operability in our warehouse. It was able to detect and read a waveform that was generated by an uncalibrated waveform generator.
