You will notice some minor darkening of the terminals because of the silver plating, and that's just what silver does. You don't find that(silver plating) on lower quality made-for-import stuff nowadays. These switches have three terminals. And they can be wired for both Normally Open and Normally Closed operation. When the Normally Open terminal is used, electricity only flows through the switch when the lever is pressed down. When the Normally Closed terminal is used. Electricity flows through the switch until the lever is pressed down. They are rated for use with DC current. And the contacts are gold plated silver alloy to withstand the more detrimental effects of DC voltage. The 1/4" quick connect spade terminals are solid brass with a heavy silver plating.
