In good cosmetic condition with a few scratches and paint chips but this case is so thick there can be no dents. The power cord and on/off switch are fine. The outlet has been upgraded to include a proper ground to the case. Four photographs show the condition of the Variac from all sides. One photograph show the Variac adjusted to the full voltage of 138.5VAC and the circuit tester verifies all three wires are connected properly. There are some minor signs of use on this. But overall, this is in good shape(one of the terminals does appear to have tape around it though) 230v; 50-60Hz; 2amp; 90 turns. Staco Variac Type 2510 Vintage Motorized Light Dimmer by Pilot Ind Controls MPLS
What we have here is a large vintage motorized Light Dimmer with large Staco variac. It was made by Pilot Industrial Controls Inc. MPLS MN, USA. I believe that it started its life as an early motorized light dimmer and is mounted in very nice metal box with a latch and swing out door that looks to have been bolted to a wall. The box is about 15 inches wide. 12 inches from front to back and about 10 inches top to bottom. There is a large and cool looking Bakelite knob on the front that attached to a large Staco variac in the box. Staco Type 2510 Input- 120V Output- 0-120/140V 50/60 HZ 25A 3.50 KVA The knob is designed to have a belt(don't have the belt) that’s runs to a pulley attached to a motor a little larger then a sewing machine motor. There are 2 relays mounted on the front of the cabinet and 2 movable clamps attached to the metal ... morepart of the large knob. By moving the clamps to differ ent locations the relays will stop the motor at predetermined voltages. I have two of these but the auction is for only one! I had planed on making a foot controlled variac but never got to it. While there is no reason this should work correctly. It is untested and sold as is. The unit shows light use with a small dent on the top edge(see photo) has nice grounded power cord. The dial on top is off adjustment but an easy fix.
