Amplimo 7B649 Toroidal Transformer for Vacuum Tube Amp Power Supply USED
Amplimo 7B649 Toroidal Power Transformer. Made in the UK. Working and used less than a month for a vacuum tube project. The plastic wrap covering the transformer has some minor scuffs from being installed. The wiring has been cut down from factory lengths but is still usable. The primary(pink/white and brown/black for 120V mains) and secondary high voltage wires have been twisted and protected with electrical shrink tubing. However. If the shrink tubing is removed, the primary leads can be wired for 230V mains. The filament wires have been protected with shrink tubing, as well. The shrink tubing is nicked and scuffed from installation. The 35V leads have been protected with shrink tubing, but would have to be removed to expose the wire leads. Mounting hardware not included. Offered for your consideration are two telephone type toroids as pictured. I BELIEVE that these are 88mH. But I am not sure and I cannot measure inductance with any tools which I have. The DC resistance of each of the two windings on each coil is 60 ohms-it appears that the 88mH toroids have a DC resistance of about 8 ohms. So I am just not sure of these. 2 KW Toroidal Pwr Amp Transformer w/ Rectifier Board, Fans, Breaker, Switch etc
DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a large toroidal power transformer that was pulled from a Mackie Tapco Juice J-2500 Pro Audio class H Power Amplifier. The amp was capable of delivering up to 2500 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load. The transformer is in clean. Excellent condition showing absolutely no signs of overheating. According to Tapco specs this transformer will draw 17.6 amps at full rated output with 115 VAC input. The toroid measures approx 6.5" wide by a shy 3" deep. It is also very heavy. This combo is truly a dream come true for DIY audio amp designers/builders. As it is right now you can plug up power to the transformer. Turn on the switch and the fans run. I measured continuity at the four large bridge rectifiers and it seems there are two separate high current windings. I don't know what the voltages are. I didn't ... morego any further. But in addition to these windings and the winding for the 12VDC source there may be an additional winding for a low current voltage source. The rectifier board has metal stand-off spacers installed.
