Feels pretty hefty, possibly 5 or 7A but I don't see it labeled so I don't know the exact size. I t is r eady to use in a nicely built home made case. Complete with AC power cord and on/off s witched dual outlet on side to plug in your electronics. Has a fuse on the front with output voltage meters on the front(Hold the black button in to use the bottom meter for 0-30VAC preci se readings. Leave the button out for readings 30-120VAC! Not sure what all the banana jacks on the side are for. Might be different volt age taps or just additional output connections? Simpl e way to protect your delicate electronics from damage to their vintage components from the shock of being plugged directly into 115VAC outlet! ... morePlug them in and slowly raise the voltage for safety and the long life of your electron ic gear! It is in very good shape and the knobs turn smoothly and voltage changes evenly exactly the way it should. The clear plastic over the bottom meter has a chip out of one side but doe s not appear to affect operation of the meter or the variac at all.
