This item is in fair condition with some cosmetic wear including rust and paint chippings. The power cord has a few cuts or frayed areas but does not effect the functionality. See photos below for more details. We plugged in the item and tested it using a volt meter. As we turned the dial the volt meter read a low voltage. Once we reached 40 on the item item the volt meter started reading the correct voltage. We also tested the AC plug with another item and it worked properly. As you can also tell by the pictures at 20 volts on the indicator it is accurate. When you crank it up to 115 volts it actually is producing a little over 122 volts. The indicator is adjustable and I don't know if there is some internal adjustment they can be made to correct this. I do not find is a problem at all. From Superior Electric Co is this variable auto-transformer that is used. It is their Powerstat. 10 B-1128, 120 V input, output is 12uV to 132 V 2.25 A. It is 2-7/8 diameter, 2 inch long body, 3/8 fine thread mounting, and ¼ Dia. shaft for control. The electrical connections are ¼ push-on and solder lug. It has the dial plate also. I got this years ago for my electric train set but never used it. Weight is 2 pounds 1.5 Oz and will be boxed and sent at the 3 pound rate. No combined shipping on this item please.
