DESCRIPTION: General Radio Variac Model V20. Used, working condition, warranty: Unit was opened and cleaned out( with 20 psig air pressure and vacuum) Obviously this is an older unit and I wanted to make sure that the windings weren't shorted by dust. Dirt and other foreign material. The dial turns with a slight rough spot in the middle. I don't believe it is damaged.just needs a shot of grease but I wasn't willing to disassemble to that level. This is a working variac. The shaft is tight and takes some force to turn it. Also notice it looks likes it has been assembled upside down. I think someone may have had taken it apart and put it back together wrong. The knob and dial seems like it should be on the other side. This transformer measures approx 5 x 6 x 5" high and weighs approx 9 1/2 pounds. Transformer includes an on/off switch. And a dual output for a two prong plug. This is the way the transformer was obtained mounted to a poor condition plate. All was removed as you see in photo. I left all intact for your reference. If you like the arrangement, I would replace all the external parts due to age. This transformer does provide output, however, at approx 100 volts out the voltage drops out and then at approx 120 picks up again. Not sure if this is a bad winding or dirty contact or what. Up for auction is a WORKING vintage General Radio Type 100-L 115v/230v 2000va VARIAC 2KW Variable Transformer with rackmount plate. You can use this with either 115v and/or 230v supply lines. If you have both 115v and 230v supply lines the variac automatically switches to the 230v supply at midpoint of the dial(straight up) It's been fully tested and it works perfectly! There is a screw terminal that is broken but these easy to replace and readily available for $5 +/ on eBay.
