I found this piece in a basement. Still mounted to the plastic dome you see. The dome doesn't weigh much, so shipping would be only a little less without it. The variac has a 115 cord and plug, but also has a 115 cord and outlet. This may have been used as a dimmer in a light fixture, but I don't know what the dome was for. We are buyers. The unit shows light use with a small dent on the top edge(see photo) has nice grounded power cord. The dial on top is off adjustment but an easy fix.
