Both of which are focused at the same point on the sample. This particular example is one of the more elaborate configurations B&L offered in the 1960's. Three objective pairs can be quickly interchanged- all are attached to a common slide. The objectives included with this instrument include a 0.66x. A 2x, and a 6x. The oculars are a pair of wide-field 15x. The stand includes a separable base that is used for transmitted light applications. The mirror fork and mirror are present. But the mirror pretty dirty, I did not know if it was coated and did not want to risk cleaning it wrong. Also lacking is the glass stage plate but the chrome-plated ledge that would have held it in place is there. This would be a very easy thing to fabricate. When transmitted light is not needed. The bottom assembly may be removed Do this by releasing a knurled screw on the back of the focus drive housing. In addition to the rack& pinion focus drive there is a second dovetail which may be extended for very large samples- the handle for securing it is visible beneath the microscope arm. The microscope is in good condition. All parts could use a good cleaning and lubrication. And the alignment should be checked. Only what is pictured is what is included. A nice Bausch and Lomb microscope with wooden case. Condition is only fair. As there is a good bit of tarnishing and some pitting on the brass components. The iron parts(small screws) and door lock key do have surface rust on them. Case has a few paint splatters on it. See image 10. There are two(2) eyepieces. Approximately 14" when extended and 12" when retracted. Wood carry case is 6 1/2" x 8" x 14" Box and scope for shipping will weigh approx. 16 lbs. Key works to lock case. Four objectives( 3 brass) 4 mm 0.65 43X, 16 mm 0.25 10X, oil immersion; 160.0 mm 1/12 1.32NA. 4th objective is(silver so I assume)steel-oil immersion: 1.8mm 1.25 97X, in its own case. Double-sided mirror, illuminator which is a Beck and Kassel made in Germany. bulb works.Also has a small container with a blue glass and i believe the other is a dark ground stop. as well as a third glass that was already there in microscope. see photo#7.there ... moreis also a bracket, i assume for mounting under the stage not sure. Wooden case has label on inside of Bausch and Lomb. I couldn't find another for sale with the packaging so it must be hard to find. its super clean but smells a little bit like an attic but I think that'll fade out. This is a Baush and Lomb Binocular Microscope purchased at a surplus sale from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. It has an Aluminum stick on tag with that info with their inventory number 025054. It has Biol. Dept. NMSC painted on the base and the same lightly engraved with an electric pen on the outside of the right leg. Both eye pieces are marked 15. The three settings are 0.7x 1.4x and 2.0x.It is stamped on the right hand top BAUSH& LOMB OPTICAL CO.ROCHESTER N.Y. U.S.A. 220544. On the setting dial at the top it says PAT. 3 29 1927 and around the dial the three settings. In the middle of the dial it says BAUSH& LOMB OPTICAL CO. U.S.A. ROCHESTER N.Y. I have never taken anything apart or removed anything and I believe it is 100% complete. The glass plate on the base has a bullseye on the right front corner. All lenses ... moreare present and in good condition with the exception that they could be cleaned. I have only used it a few times to clean wax from my hearing aids. All adjusting mechanisms work as they should. It is black lacquered solid brass. With the exceptions of the tubes of the eye pieces. I had planned to have it paint removed to expose all the brass, but never did. Scientific Advisor The Bausch& Lomb Microscopes for Amateurs The principal microscopes for amateurs offered by Bausch& Lomb throughout the 1930s are the Model R and the New Gem, both of which are featured in Adventures with the Microscope. I am not an expert in microscopes. I will describe this the best I can. It is a binocular scope as it has 2 eyepieces. There seems to be 3 lenses. But they are different to me as they are rectangular and slide. They are a 1.3, 66 and 3. The knobs do adjust the height of the binoculars however if you look at the pics one of them is bent. It does not affect the performance though. The glass shelf and mirror underneath are intact. I can look through and see stuff so they still work. Dials twist and unit moves up and down in a few places that it is supposed to, but I didn't mess with it too much since I am not at all familiar with this. From research I believe this is about 80 or so years old. It was used at a college. It comes with some other parts which aren't pictured, 2 tubes, some arc carbons, and a couple of discs. There are several numeral sequences scribed into the base, body and head of unit, otherwise it is in pretty nice shape. The vertical movement of head is smooth, however it does meander down from the top by its own weight. The X and Y movement of the table top specimen holder assembly is smooth and true. This scope requires a lot of light! It was fairly easy to get a good magnified view with the 3.5x, much harder with th 43x and 97x. The working distance(from objective lens to subject) is around 2" At the distance the object comes clearling into focus without a light source(though adequate lighting in the room is of course necessary) I suspect this was a micrscope for the field or a doctor's microscope; it measures 6 3/4 inches and would be easily transported in a doctor's bag. Vintage Bausch And Lomb Microscope Model R From 1934/Rare/Hard To Find/In Case
This is a Model R 1934 Bausch and Lomb Microscope in the original case with 7 lenses.one lense is at the bottom section of he scope and the extra six are in slots on the side of the wooden case. I found this model on Google and got this info. It seems it is rare and hard to find because in that time period not to many people could afford to buy one so they only manufactured a few of them. I purchased at a live local auction and never could figure out how to use it. It looks to be in great shape.no scratches. Dents or cracks on the scope. The box is in good shape except the color,of the wood finish has worn off and some info on the front of the wooden box. International buyers will incur addl shipping fees.
