Polarizing Microscope Spencer No. 42 This is a Spencer Polarizing Microscope Model Number 42. This microscope is in excellent condition and it shows nicely. There are some signs of wear from use and age. However for the age I would say that it's in exceptional condition. It probably could use some optic cleaning, etc. but it all seems to be there and work as intended. I have tried all the objectives, the change rings, eyepieces and polarizer to observe some mineral thin sections. I was able to produce some nice images. The results were pretty good. Because of the age and lack of complete testing this rare old scope is sold completely"as is" There is no return, no refunds, no exchanges, no excuses. A set of four(4) centerable change rings that hold objectives. A set of five(5) Spencer objectives that all seem to produce an image. They include the following labeled as: 2) 16mm-N.A.0.25-10X. 1) 4mm-N.A.0.66-44X, 1) 4mm-Num.Aper.0.66:44X, 1) HOM. 1mm-1.8mm-N.A.1.25-95X. An extra AO labeled centerable nosepiece. Two(2) brass thumbscrews The body tube has both the analyzer and Bertrand sliders. As well as the quick-change center-able nose-piece. All the components on the body tube move mostly smoothly and as intended. The stand is in good shape as well, with all focus controls moving smoothly and as intended with only very minor cosmetic issues.
