The engineering is to an exceptionally high standard and the same as Leitz. I did say to someone(before I purchased this Stage) that the Leitz UT-5 was considered to be the'best' I was reminded that Fedorow was Russian like this stage! I believe this stage was manufactured around the 1960's. I expect a lot of interest in this item and a modest starting bid has to be set. This will sell to the right bidder and is being offered for sale worldwide. For sale is a Chrosziel matte box with french flag. Two filter stages(one of which rotates) 8" 15mm rails and mounting bracket, bellows, and ten(10) Tiffen filters. One filter stage is 4x5.65" part# 410-31. 4x4comb. and the filter frame slides up and down, such as for use with gradient filters. The second filter stage is 4x4" part# 402-04, 4x4) and rotates. There is only one top french flag. No side flags. The bellows have a 100mm opening. With a 90mm stepdown currently in place. Between the center of the rails and the center of the lens opening it is approximately 3.375 inches or 85mm. The matte box is in pretty good shape. No major flaws, but appears to be missing a couple smalls screws. The bearing is a sleeve-type. Not a ball race, so rotation, although smooth, is not effortless. The stage is bored to accept standard stage clips(none included) It will also accept an attachable XY mechanical stage of the type with the control knobs facing upwards. Stage diameter is 150mm. The carrier ring has a pair of centration screws so the center of rotation may be made coincident with the optic axis. One nice feature of the centering knobs is that one has a left-handed thread. Symmetrical operation of the knobs by the left and right hand will result in a motion in a similar direction. The carrier ring is tapped to fit the standard stage carrier configuration ... morefound on the black-series instruments. Such as the Laborlux and SM. It will also fit the stage carrier for the venerable Ortholux. This rotating stage is a nice accessory when doing simple work with polarized light. Zeiss Microscope Centering & Rotating Pol XY Mechanical Stage w/Centering Screws
This is a very nice Carl Zeiss X Y Rotating and Centering Mechanical stage for polarizing microscopy or transmitted or reflected light microscopy of most any kind. This particular stage comes with a centering device with both centering screws designed into the ring and not seperate requiring special tools as seen on most centering devices. The stage will also come with four standard metric slot head mounting screws as shown and fits all Zeiss black and grey colored microscopes as well as some of the Axioline models. Mechanically the stage works extremelly well. As it should without backlash, as does the rotation. Cosmetically it shows some minor wear as one would expect but much less than we normally see. There is no brassing or bad scratches on the top surface. Only one edge on the left side rim of picture two has any wear. There is a UC(University ... moreof California) property number on the edge as seen in picture two as well but it is dark and hard to see at all. Overall a very nice a worthy mechanical and rotating centering stage for any Zeiss microscope. This is a Carl Zeiss Polarizing Microscope#66 Pol rotating and 360 degree graduated stage reading to 1/10 degree by either of two veneer scales. The stage is in very nice working condition. The stage has been professionally taken apart. Cleaned and relubricated. The fine knob rotation, as on all#66 Pol stages by Zeiss after this many years does not work as the internal bushing breaks down and disintegrates into crumbs. There are absolutely no replacements available. All broken down material has been removed. Cleaned and both ball bearing races have been cleaned and relubricated with Zeiss factory oil allowing the stage to otherwise work fine. The knob is really not important and I frankly never new any geologist who used it as it results in very slow stage rotation. The stage now rotates freely as it should with detent"click stops" ... moreevery 45 degrees and stage lock in any position as desired. Works great. Comes with four stage mounting screws for attachment to any standard Zeiss upright microscope and two new Zeiss made removable slide or thin section hold down clips.
