The instruction manual is dated 11/62. And indicates that it may be a'Mak S' microscope. However, I was unable to confirm this since the microscope itself is not marked with a model number. The serial number is 307986. Comes in the original wooden case, which locks with a skeleton key(which is included) The microscope comes with several parts/accessories, as shown. Eyepieces/objectives are marked 10X and 5X. This unit is in good cosmetic shape with minor wear such as scuffs and scratches due to normal use. There are also some stickers and markings to indicate that this unit was once used in a university lab. The microscope appears to be in working condition. ... moreHowever. Estimated 1950's Rotary Microtome for cutting thin sections of histopathological or other specimens. Made by quality manufacturer- C. Reichert Optische Werke AG in Vienna. Austria, probably around 1950. A microtome is a mechanical instrument used to cut biological specimens into very thin slices for microscopic examination. A sample of tissue is prepared and placed in paraffin wax block which is mounted on the microtome and moved toward the blade of the microtome. As the block is moved toward the blade. Very thin flat sections are cut for each upward movement. These sections are very thin and translucent and are studied with a light microscope. This microtome ... morehas a green finished metal casing. On the side is the rotary hand wheel which. When cranked, moves the specimen up and down and towards the blade by the set thickness. The specimen holder rotates to the desired angle. Cutting sections are obtained in different thickness by adjusting a knob located on the rear: range 1-25 microns. On the front is the stage for the microtome blade. The blade holder unit rotates to the desired angle for best sectioning. It has forward and backward movements to ensure contact of specimen with the knife. Weight(approx) 19 Kg Overall condition is good for age. There is wear to the handle and some surface corrosion to bare metal components. The case has some marks to the finish. Internally it is clean and seems to have been kept well lubricated. PLEASE EXAMINE PICTURES. I have tested it to the best of my ability. As there is no blade I made up a blade from a Stanley knife(this is not included as it could be dangerous) My homemade blade cut acceptable sections in wax. Pine and an apple. The thichness adjustment seemed to work correctly, but I have no way of measuring to that accuracy. Please contact me if you need more information. OVERSEAS

VINTAGE REICHERT AUSTRIA VERY RARE OPTICAL MICROSCOPE Teachers OPTICS
Reichert microscope. It seems to be in working order and well taken care of! It was owned by Harvard doctor just recently passed away this is one of his many microscope's where he studied in children medicine. I wish I had more information to give you about it but it looks like an amazing machine with great quality. It's still has Los Angeles Children's Hospital stickers on it from 1974. Purchased as is! I am sure it needs a tuneup and possibly a good cleaning but it's an amazing condition!

Reichert Microscope made in Austria. I am assuming this is made for metallurgical research. It is missing the top part of the single eyepiece and perhaps some other attachments that I am not aware of. Not an expert with this equipment and was not able to test the light since the electrical plug is unique. Has one objective attached with Epi 32/0.42. Light source has 4 different colored lenses attached. It appears that this microscope is vintage and a rare find. The serial number; NR 261 277 on the body. Indicates that this item may have been made from the 1950s-60s. Has a metal stamp on the body: William J. Hacker& Co. Inc. This item was acquired from a local research laboratory.
