This is an all metal. Series 150/160 American Optical laboratory or school microscope, in good working average condition. It is manufactured in Buffalo N.Y. USA. It comes with a 10X Cat.139 monocular eyepiece. There are three lenses: 4/10X, 55X and a Spencer 100X. The electrical cord for the 115 volt. 15 watt lamp is 7 ft. long. The metal light switch button is frozen in the"on" position and is bunged up a bit from trying to loosen it. So the lamp comes on when it is plugged in. The regular and fine focusing knobs both work. The top part of the microscope has been painted with gray primer. Nothing else seems to be broken dented or cracked. There are a few minor wear surface marks. The instrument being offered for sale is in excellent working condition. It comes with a pair of AO catalog#176 10X W.F. Wide Field) eyepieces. In excellent condition. The nosepiece turret has space for four objective lenses; 3 objectives are installed on this instrument, as follows: 1. 10X N.A. 0.25, catalog#1076, 2) 45X N.A. 0.66, catalog#1116, and 3) 100X oil immersion, N.A. 1.25, catalog#1079. All objective lenses are infinity corrected, as required for the AO Series 10. There is an AO dust cap installed in the nosepiece where a 4th objective lens may be inserted, if/when desired. The condenser is in excellent condition with iris diaphragm and has a N.A. of 1.25. The illuminator ... moreon this microscope is the famous#1036A. It contains a high intensity bulb and is in excellent working condition. This microscope illumination system requires a separate transformer to supply power to the bulb(transformer is not included) these transformers are common and very easily obtained on Ebay. The serial number of this instrument is 655156. The second photo in the series is a composite of photomicrographs obtained using this microscope with a digital camera-a photo was taken using each of the three objective lenses.
