This is a very rare antique solid brass adjustable botany microscope. it has many ornate adjustable and removable parts with threaded knobs used to lock them all into place. there is a double sided mirror at the bottom and a slide mount in the middle. Both do remove from the shaft. the microscope piece is also locked into place by an adjustable knob and does remove. the whole microscope and shaft also rotate back and forth at the stand adjustment. the microscope has two ends that remove and has a hallow inside. The stand is a nicely routed octagon shape and made from heavy brass. the piece measures 11 3/4 inches tall and the base measures 4 3/4 inches wide. i do not know too much about these microscopes so i don't know if there are additional parts or pieces missing. nice rare microscope that i have never seen before. Vtg Brass Heavy Bausch & Lomb Yale Microscope w/ Locked wooden storage box
This is a very interesting older microscope. It reads Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, NY, YALE. It does not have the reflective mirror below which is most common in microscopes but rather it has a open and close light feature.much like the shutter on a camera. I believe this must have been a research microscope for a classroom, perhaps at Yale? The box has gold color markings on it which read Room 19 Z31. It seems to be in excellent condition with the exception of a few minor surface scratches. I see some brass on this microscope and the entire piece may be out of brass and coated in black because it is tremendously heavy. This scope weighs 10 pounds. 8 ounces. The grooved box is in fine condition as well and comes with an extra lens and has the original screw which keeps the scope secure in the box. The model or serial number on ... morethe scope is 252507 and I can't find this model anywhere. When I look through it. I don't see any cracks or anything damaged through the lens. I don't know much about telescopes but it appears to all be in functioning order. The scope measures 15" tall when the lens is all the way up, when it is down it measures 13" high. Leeuwenhoek Microscope Dutch Replica Brass Boerhaave Museum Leeuwenhoek's Rare
Offered here is a beautiful Dutch replica of a rare single-lens Leeuwenhoek's microscope. Anton van Leeuwenhoek was the first person to view single celled organisms. Using hand-made microscopes like the one here in the 1600's. From what I can glean online. This microscope was made by hand by Arie de Vink, the former conservator of the Boerhaave Museum in Leiden. The Netherlands. He made them from at least 1967 and stopped making them around 2010, when in his 80's. The current conservator is making a different replica model that is less complex to make, and De Vink's model no longer available for sale. One of De Vink's replicas is in Harvard University's collection. This tiny microscope is brass, about 2 3/4" long, and is probably artificially aged to produce the patina. It is stamped with"Leiden/ Copie" ... moreon the back in order to identify it as a replica. It is very detailed, with multiple parts and appears to be in good working condition, although I haven't used it. This is a stunning very high quality late 19th century solid brass Bausch and Lomb(Arthur H. Thomas) microscope. it is made from thick brass and is an extremely heavy piece. it is marked on the base by maker and has a serial number in the back"52826" it is a very intense piece with lots of mechanical movable parts. all parts move freely and work good. it is a very precise instrument and very well made. it has a beautiful cow bone handle on the side as well. everything seams to be in working order with no damage. Amazing Antique Microscope: According to Internet research(I am not an expert when it comes to antique scientific equipment) This is a… Bausch& Lomb CCS7 Continental model research microscope from c1900 made in New York. Rack& pinion coarse focus& graduated wheel. Screw fine focus. Triple rotating nosepiece and four objectives. It has a rotating stage with centering screws and slide clips, rack& pinion sub-stage with Abbe condenser, and a rack& pinion mounted adjustable diaphragm. The sub-stage mirror is plano-convex. The draw tube is graduated from 150 to 230mm for different objectives. Measures 15" tall x 5" in base width x 6.5" thick(base) Condition wise this microscope has natural patina. All the dials function and move freely. The construction is amazing. It’s extremely heavy and the action on the dials ... moreis still smooth as butter. It is dirty and needs to be cleaned(by someone more knowledgeable than me) before use. If that’s even your intended purpose, the lenses& mirror need attention before you can clearly make out enlarged images or even see how well it truly functions. I have not done anything to tarnish the finish or try and buff the brass into shinning as that may not be the wish of it’s new owner. The similar ones I have seen for sale are not the round stage ones( round stage models are older than the rectangular ones) But most others appear very shinny and while beautiful, I don't know that they had that polished finish new in the early 1900’s. This one is missing the case that it came with new and two of the three objectives appear to be non original(newer stainless finish one is dated patent 1925) Three additional eyepieces are included. Not sure if they fit, but they do not look original– one is stamped univ. of Mass. These were extremely expensive new in the early 1900’s too– I saw something about this model being $137.50 new– for comparison Ford Model T’s went for as low as $260 new in the 1920’s.
