A Pair of 16x wide field lenses for STEREO MICROSCOPE
This matched pair of lenses came off of a stereo microscope. With the average microscope you get a set of 10x. But I needed extra magnifying power. So I got mine with two sets of lenses 1 pair of 10x and 1 matched pair of 16. Well, the pair of 16 X are so sharp and beautifully wide field that when I sold the Nikon microscope I decided to keep the 16 X, just in case I ever needed to use a microscope again. It has been years since I set these aside, and it appears that the things that I'm studying now-a-days will not require a microscope. A very handy eyepiece to have. This is an American Optical 10X Wide Field Focusing microscope eyepiece, AO Catalog Number 437. The eyepiece is clean and dust free, and the optics are crystal clear and without scratches. This eyepiece fits standard microscope eyepiece tubes of 23mm diameter. I keep one of these eyepieces handy whenever I'm using my microscope and I need to perform critical measurements with an eyepiece micrometer. When I'm using a reticle in a standard eyepiece. The reticle scale appears fuzzy and out of focus-the result being that the measurement is often inaccurate. Also, I do not like to leave reticles permanently installed in my microscope eyepieces, because I find they interfere with my field of view. With the Cat. 437, you can focus sharply on the reticle and the specimen at the same time-the result is a keen, ... moreaccurate measurement. Trying to limit my collection to B&L only. So here is an item from American Optical. This is a 25x Wide Field American Optical microscope eyepiece. Catalog number 186. This standard 23.2 outside diameter ocular is a well made high magnification eyepiece that can squeeze the most magnification out of your objectives. The metal construction holds several lenses in position and may be disassembled for cleaning. Although I have never disassembled the unit I can tell from the weight that it is not a simple two lens Huygenian ocular. It is comparatively rare and a fine addition to the collection of any American Optical enthusiast. Although it is in working condition, it would benefit from cleaning.
