Infinity corrected optic, and must be used only on uncovered specimens. The objective is spring-loaded for protection of the front lens. The lens has a relatively high numerical aperture of 0.75. And is highly corrected for flatness of field up to a 28mm field-of-view index, as well as very high color correction. The Fluotars are bested only by the Apochromats. The lens mounting thread is standard RMS which makes this lens suitable for earlier instruments such as the Ergolux, Metalloplan, and others which used RMS nosepieces.
