Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template- AW2KLOT#182 Leitz Interchangeable Nosepiece for 1970's Dialux Microscope This Leitz nosepiece fits the 1970's vintage Dialux microscope(the type with the square frame. Not the earlier black curved-limb models, nor the later 160mm tubelength instruments such as the Dialux 20 family) The finish is silver-gray which would indicate this was probably from the early 1970's as Leitz changed to an off-white finish mid-1970's. The nosepiece has standard RMS threads for five objectives. The detent spring is very strong the nosepiece has very positive stops in all positions. Cosmetically it is in near perfect condition just a bit of dirt in the peripheral knurling which I overlooked until it was photographed. There is also just a hint of discoloration in the matte chrome on the upper side of the ... morenosepiece(see second photo) This was obviously very lightly used and carefully cared for. Mounts via a round dovetail that is about 42 mm in diameter. All the mechanics on this piece are a little stiff. This includes the prism changeover knob and interpupillary distance adjust. But both do move and may get better with more use. I'll leave it up to the operator if they want to disassemble either or both and relubricate- which is certainly possible. There is a knob on the left that I believe can be turned to block stray light from coming through the eyepieces. This apparently does not work and again. I'll leave it up to the operator is they want to disassemble and repair. The optic are in decent condition. There is a small amount of haze in the eyepiece prisms which is normal for ... morea head this old. The light path to the camera is very clean as are both of the included 10x Periplan GF 18 field number eyepieces both of which have built in diopters which work well.
