It is first placed in the nosepiece and then rotated into the light path of the Arc Illuminator. The lower face of the objective attachment has a frosted glass window with an inscribed crosshair. Light passing through the microscope dichromatic mirror strikes the built-in reflector of the centering screen and is reflected onto the crosshairs.
