Wild Heerbrugg of Switzerland. FLUOTAR 100x HI microscope objective with IRIS marked 1.3-0.8 Comes with Wild case. Marked also with number 011406. Not sure if this is the serial number or part number( I'm not familiar with Wild product history) This high-end fluorite objective with high numerical aperture and resolution is in SPECTACULAR condition- Please see pictures. Must have been little used before I bought it and I have only used it a few times. I find I am not using it on my Zeiss scope as I have similar Zeiss objectives. The iris moves very smoothly and is not at all stiff- rotates easily with objective in place and in focus. So you can adjust the aperture when viewing in darkfield. I have not seen this objective with the iris for sale since I bought it years ago. And in this condition, it will be a long time before one comes up ... morefor sale like this again. Optics are outstanding. I see no signs of delamination or other imperfections. I have also taken an image with a Zeiss Jenaphot metallograph of the front lens. So you can see how good the condition is. It is shown using brightfield incident lighting through a GF Planapochromat objective- this really shows up anything on the lens, and as you can see it is clear. The micrograph is taken with the objective on a Zeiss Photomic III and captured at 2000x of an Amphipleura pellucida test diatom on a strew using a 1.4NA condenser in the DF setting with crossed polar filters an monochrome green light to improve contrast. As you can see the objective is able to resolve the lines that are at about 250nm spacing. This is a common test diatom to push the limit of what you can resolve with a light microscope reaching the Abbe diffraction limit. This is an American Optical 50X Catalog#1016 Infinity-Corrected Oil Immersion microscope objective lens. With iris diaphragm. It has a very high numerical aperture value of 0.80. The lens is in excellent working and good cosmetic condition, and I have personally tested this objective on my own microscope. The second photo in the series shows a prepared slide of mouse cuboidal epithelium. The photo was taken with a digital camera and using this objective. You can see how sharp the image is, even out to the periphery of the field of view. The iris diaphragm allows this lens to be used for normal brightfield microscopy(iris fully open) or for dark field work(iris diaphragm closed down depending upon the microscope and dark field path in use) Here are some comments about this lens found on the Yahoo!
