It must have been used with synthetic immersion oil, as the front shows none of the corrosion caused by the old traditional pine oil. It DOES NOT HAVE a retractable nose. This means that it should be used only with A.O. scopes, all of which have retractable nose pieces, OR those specific scopes made when AO/Reichart/Leitz formed a new company.
