This lamp housing inserts into the lower light port of the Leitz Ortholux I microscope. If you intend to use this in the upper light port. An adapter tube will be necessary, since the microscope upper port is more narrow than the lower port(a poor design feature on Leitz's part) This lamp housing is in very good condition cosmetically. The exterior paint appears to have slight cracking in it. But it is not peeling. The interior of the lamp housing does have some oxidation. The diffusers inside the lamp housing are intact and in fine condition. Electrically. The light does work and has been tested, however a 6 volt, 30 watt lamp is NOT included in the auction. WWII Leitz Wetzlar Ortholux Microscope 4 Obj Turret + Objectives Brass
This is an AMAZING set. Straight from Germany during WWII. This has a serial number of 360792, dating it to 1941-1945. It was owned by a doctor and medical school professor by the name of Ceelen. The microscope itself appears to be in excellent condition as it has very little cosmetic wear and no apparent damage. The electrical cord is a European model consisting of 3 prongs in a straight line, so I have no way to test this. If I need to go out and buy a travel converter, please let me know. Based on what I saw in the book(included) this appears to be for polarized light. The light source is at the back of the base. The light then shoots across the inside bottom and reflects up into where the slides go. This set comes with ALL KINDS of WWII era accessories including many different objectives. Some of which are brass and some of which are ... moreused for/with oil. As I'm sure you can tell by now, I am not a scientist of any kind and I don't really know that much about this item. All of the accessories appear to be in good, working order but this is used and some have normal use wear. Some heavier than others. This set includes the following, as far as I can describe: E. Leitz Wetzlar Ortholux Research Microscope with Four Objective Turret- Original manual/catalogue of accessories- Accessory: A 3-way piece of some kind that may be a single objective turret. On the side. Above the objective, there is another eyepiece. This comes in its original red, leather-bound case with clasp. Accessory: This is the piece in the light brown box. It has a telescoping 10x lens on one side and a clear lens on the other. There is a large silver dial on the side for adjusting. Accessory: This is a large. Cylindrical piece that appears to replace the 2-eye viewer with a single eye viewer. Accessory: Eye piece? This is a silver cylinder with lenses at each end. One end marked"10 X WIDE F. by B&L- Accessory: Another of the above. The screw-in side is slightly bent. Accessory: Another eye piece? This one marked 6XB- Accessor
