It includes a built-in 5mm scale divided into 50 parts and numbered 0 to 5. The eyelens is focusable in a captive sleeve mounting. The reticle is an integral part of the ocular. Forming a connecting link between the part of the barrel with the eyelens and the lower portion with the field lens. The barrel is nickel-plated and shows much wear. The barrel upper portion is engraved'B&L.O.CO. and also includes a description of the reticle- DIV. 0.1mm. Magnification 7.5x Diameter 23.2mm Focusing eyelens Integral 5mm scale. Divided 0.1mm Uncoated optics The optical portion of the eyepiece is excellent. The scale is very well-defined and easily readable. The lacquered part of the bezel is good. This is something that has been packed away for many years. I'm cleaning out my lab and I found this really cool Bausch& Lomb Filar Micrometer Eyepiece. It looks like it has never been used. The little Alan wrench is still sealed in the plastic. The yellowed directions were still in the box. I can't even remember getting it that's how old I am. I don't collect things anymore. This specialty measuring eyepiece for a microscope comes in a wood storage box. I would guess that this microscope accessory dates from circa 1940 or possibly earlier. This unit contains a rotating disc that has a set of eight(8) reticles with difference size square grids for measuring grain sizes under the microscope. Each of the grids is numbered for identification. The grids ... morecontained on the disc are as follows: 1 1 square division 2- 4 square divisions 3- blank(grid eroded away) 4- 9 square divisions 5- blank(grid eroded away) 6- 36 square divisions(grid partially eroded away) 7- 64 square divisions 8- 144 square divisions The eyepiece is focusable and has a restraint screw on the side that is used to secure the device to the ocular barrel of the microscope. The wood case measures 80mm long. 68mm wide and 25mm tall and has a metal clasp to secure the lid when the eyepiece is stored inside. The geologist. Soil scientist or mineralogist will find this unit to be a nice microscope accessory to own and use. This unit is in very good cosmetic. Optical and mechanical condition. As noted above three(3) of the grids are either partially or completely eroded away. However, the remaining five(5) grids are in excellent condition. The disc rotates smoothly and the optics in the eyepiece itself are clear and free of any defects.
