I didn't think the fine focus worked because it did not move the front carriage. That's because it does not move the front carriage, but moves the entire focusing block in relation the the mounting assembly on the back. So both the fine and coarse focus seem to work fine. The front carriage has a travel range just slightly shy of 1 3/8" And the fine focusing knob moves the entire block probably around 2mm(just guessing) over the range of about 20 revolutions stop to stop.
