This is the latest and the best version of the Universal illuminator. This is the most capable of the several vertical illuminators Reichert produced for their Zetopan research microscopes. It called the Universal Opak illuminator; it is capable of performing: Brightfield with full control of Kohler illumination• Darkfield(with suitable EPI objectives) Oblique illumination(either by decentration of the aperture diaphragm. Or via a rotating disk with an eccentric cutout) Polarized light(Pol filter is not included) Nomarski Interference Contrast with optional module(not included) The light is directed into the vertical illuminator by a right-angle prism ... morehousing which includes a three position slider. First and second positions are open. And the third position contains a rotating disk with an eccentric cutout. This can be used for oblique illumination and is especially useful with samples that have some degree of relief. The disk turns very easily and can be operated when in the optic path.
