It has a 25mm diameter thread in order to accommodate the annular condenser assembly concentric with the central objective. The objective should only be used with the'Neo' type nosepiece- the standard nosepiece has an RMS thread which is closer to 20mm. The objective is also unsuited for use with the later style infinity tubelength vertical illuminators. The objective probably dates from the early to mid-1970's. It characteristics may be summarized as follows: 40x magnification• 0.65 numerical aperture• Simple achromat construction(not flat field) Neo thread size = 25mm• Finite tube length(160mm) The objective is in excellent cosmetic condition. The glass elements are also in great shape except the front element does have some minor coating flaws. There is a tiny filigree of voids in the MgFl coating. But most of the coating is intact. This should only have a negative impact in very low reflectivity samples, and even then, it is most likely marginal. This lens will still yield excellent results.
