Leitz Wollaston Prism in Adapter for NPL 20x Pol Objective
This is a Wollaston prism in a special 15mm long spacer adapter. It converts a 20x NPL(or NPL Fluotar) objective of 30mm adjustment length into a Nomarski interference contrast objective. The adapter is first threaded into the nosepiece. Then the objective threaded into the adapter, forming a DIN standard 45mm adjustment length system. The three set screws about the perimeter of the adapter are released which allows the objective(along with the Wollaston prism within the adapter) to be axially rotated. When the shear direction is in the proper orientation with respect to the crossed analyzer and polarizer, the set screws are fixed. Other elements needed for interference contrast include an analyzer slider with a fixed orientation polarizing filter. A special rotating polarizer/ first-order red combination that is specific to the stand on ... morewhich it is employed, and of course, the 20x objective. The prism is in perfect condition.
