This lens seems to be much the same as the better known Chinon 300mm mirror lens. This is one of the few mirror lenses from an independent maker that has become highly regarded. At around 6.5cm long(excluding the mount) it is tiny. And is smaller than the average standard kit zoom lens. The effective focal length with a digital SLR that has an APS size sensor is around 450 to 480mm. The contrast is better than that of most mirror lenses. As is the sharpness. Also. It does not have the odd soft-focus effect that seems to plague many mirror lenses. A minimal amount of tweaking to boost the contrast and sharpness in Photoshop(or whatever) is sufficient to optimise results. It is in ... moreexcellent cosmetic condition. Showing just a few minor signs of use. The optics are free from fungus and other marks and the focusing is smooth. As is the norm with mirror lenses it cannot be stopped down and the aperture is fixed(at a relatively fast F5.6 in this case) However. Here's another of the uncommon mirror lenses(also known as catadioptric or reflex lenses) of faster aperture and shorter focal length made for 35mm film cameras. Mirror lenses are usually found in the 500mm F/8 variety. But this one is a 300mm F/5.6 and fits Konica AR/Autoreflex mount cameras. With easily available adapters, it can also be used manually with digital cameras such as Olympus and Panasonic Micro 4/3, Sony NEX, Samsung NX, Fujifilm X-Pro, Nikon 1 cameras and others. This lens is in good working order and is in about excellent minus cosmetic condition. I hunted down and used a range of 300mm mirror lenses over several years trying to find which are the best performers. And I was pleasantly surprised by this one. With its 67mm front filter thread and outer barrel just a little over 2 1/2 inches long, it's downright tiny ... moreconsidering the long telephoto reach it provides. If you can pin the focus, I found that it's got good, usable sharpness- the best I've seen in lenses of its kind- and perhaps thanks to its multicoated glass, it has fair to good contrast, too(using a lens hood also helps get the best results) The ring-like out-of-focus areas of images associated with this lens type, usually referred to as"doughnut bokeh, don't seem to occur as often or aren't as distracting as I've seen with other mirror lenses. And although this lens shows only macro markings down to 1:4 at its closest-focusing range instead of feet and meters, I measured its near-focus limit at a very short 4.3 feet/1.3 meters, which makes the lens very versatile to use. It can take some practice to get good results from mirror lenses. And you should know what they're useful for and what to expect from them. A good quality, conventional long telephoto will almost always produce better overall image quality than an equivalent mirror/reflex lens, but a mirror lens can often allow you to get shots that a conventional telephoto simply can't.
