Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template- AW2KLOT#189 Zeiss Type 57 Rotating XY Research Microscope Stage with Graduated Periphery This is a very nice Zeiss research microscope stage complete with a carrier for the higher-end Grayline microscopes(the WL and the entire range of photomicroscopes including the Ultraphot. UEM, etc) This stage is quite versatile, being graduated in both X and Y, and about the periphery where rotation may be read to 0.1 degrees via a vernier. It has 75mm of motion in the X axis, and 50mm of motion in the Y axis, both reading to 0.1mm via verniers. There is a friction clamp for Y-axis motion, and another friction clamp for theta rotation. The stage sits in a shallow recess with a spring-loaded pin that bears against two centering screws with box heads. The X-axis superstructure may be entirely removed leaving an upper ... moresurface without any projections. The stage was available in two versions. Without the graduated periphery, it was designated a Type 56 stage. The addition of the graduations and the vernier, as seen here, changes the nomenclature to a Type 57 stage. The stage is in fantastic cosmetic condition. The engraving about the periphery and for both axes is crisp and clean. There is just a trace of wear on the upper surface of the stage underneath the spring-arm finger. But it is very modest and there is no brassing. The only place I noted some scoring in the paint was in the periphery between 250 and 260 degrees. The graduations and numbers are not affected, but you can see some scoring in the black part of the finish(see first photo) Mechanically the stage is in perfect condition. It was entirely pulled apart. Cleaned, and relubricated. Rotation is extremely smooth not a trace of'brinelling' from the ball bearing races, and both the X and Y motions are smooth and free of backlash. Zeiss Microscope Centering & Rotating Pol XY Mechanical Stage w/Centering Screws
This is a very nice Carl Zeiss X Y Rotating and Centering Mechanical stage for polarizing microscopy or transmitted or reflected light microscopy of most any kind. This particular stage comes with a centering device with both centering screws designed into the ring and not seperate requiring special tools as seen on most centering devices. The stage will also come with four standard metric slot head mounting screws as shown and fits all Zeiss black and grey colored microscopes as well as some of the Axioline models. Mechanically the stage works extremelly well. As it should without backlash, as does the rotation. Cosmetically it shows some minor wear as one would expect but much less than we normally see. There is no brassing or bad scratches on the top surface. Only one edge on the left side rim of picture two has any wear.
