Mounts via a round dovetail that is about 42 mm in diameter. All the mechanics on this piece are a little stiff. This includes the prism changeover knob and interpupillary distance adjust. But both do move and may get better with more use. I'll leave it up to the operator if they want to disassemble either or both and relubricate- which is certainly possible. There is a knob on the left that I believe can be turned to block stray light from coming through the eyepieces. This apparently does not work and again. This is one of the black trinocular heads for the Olympus BX microscopes. It appears to be in perfect working order except someone removed the dovetail camera adapter part on the top of this head. The beam splitting rod moves very easily and I can see the prisms move when you change positions on this rod. You can send 100% of the light to the eyepieces. Split the light 20% to the eyepieces and 80% to the camera, or send 100% of the light to the camera. I cannot seem to find replacement Olympus camera dovetail for this trinocular head. UP for sale is an OLYMPUS BH super wide trinocular head and a pair of 30 mm diameter super wide eye pieces. I have tested this superwide trinocular head on BH microscope which works great. And I also mounted on BH2 series microscopes which also fits and works great. There are some residues on the top metal part of the trinocular head(see last two photos) But these small residues are on the metal and does not affect the view in any way. These are not dents and can be cleaned off with the right cleaning agent. I have tested that this super wide head indeed provide the beautiful 26.5 field numbers. 2 super wide eye pieces are focus-able. One is very smooth when turned. The other one is fixed and may need a little lubricant. Very easy to do. I just don't have time. Up for auction is a non-working trinocular microscope head from a Leitz Orthoplan 2 or Aristoplan microscope. Please note: this scope is labeled as an Orthoplan 2. As seen in the last three photos, but has the appearance of an Aristoplan. I believe the parts fit the newer Aristoplan models rather than older Orothoplan models. I am not 100% certain on this, so please check your needs carefully. The part number on this head is#512 818. The intraocular adjustment is not working on this item.when you turn the knob it just spins and does not move the eyepiece holders. I believe the gears are stripped inside from trying to move the knob when it was gummed up and frozen in place, or the knob itself is broken. As such, this item is being sold as is.that is, in non-working condition for parts or repair.
