This could be a beam-splitter for an early TV camera for a microscope. But it's pretty good. And possibly rare. Another look: there is a shutter-control dial above what may be a cable release port. So it is a camera. And one more. Hi. This has provision to attach a Leica film back on the top of the unit, but it isn't a camera. This item was manufactured by Leitz USA, probably early 1960's. The small housing to the side almost certainly contains a photomultiplier- one of the cables is for the HV supply to the PMT, the other is the signal cable. The ocular on the side allows one to view the microscope field of view(the brushed aluminum tube drops into the ISO 38 port of most Leitz photo tubes) There is a turret on the side with a series of diaphragms(I assume) of fixed apertures. These are superimposed on the image to the ocular on the side so you can determine the area of the field being measured. These devices were used to quantify transmission(or reflectance, with external standards) of microscope samples. The camera port allowed one to photograph the microscope field in a normal manner.
