Spencer Polarizing Microscope No. 42 This is a Spencer Polarizing Microscope Model Number 42. This microscope is in excellent condition and it shows nicely. There are some signs of wear from use and age. However for the age I would say that it's in exceptional condition. The microscope comes with what certainly looks like the original case of dovetailed hardwood. Velvet lined and leatherette covered in good condition. It looks like the eyepiece is a later AO 10xWF, CAT.176 replacement. The body tube has both the analyzer and Bertrand sliders, as well as the quick-change center-able nose-piece, although there are no objectives with change rings present. All the components on the body tube move smoothly and as intended. The stand is in good shape as well, with all focus controls moving smoothly and as intended with only very minor cosmetic ... moreissues. The 125mm, plain bearing, revolving stage has the periphery graduated in degrees with a vernier reading to 3 minutes of arc. It moves freely but the grease is probably a little dry so it would benefit from re-greasing to be perfect. It also has a sub-stage condenser N.A. 1.0 with aperture and flip up iris. The original reflector is also in place. I will also include a 22 page booklet I've printed out entitled, Spencer Polarizing Microscopes" It pictures and describes this model as well as others and all of the accessories that were made available for the Spencer Model No. 42. Up for sale is my personal Lightly Used Working Zeiss WL Pol Polarizing Microscope Parts. This is the Intermediate Tube& Adjustable Analyzer in Super Nice Condition. There is just a bit of edge delamination on one of the Tube's correction lenses but does not show in view. The Pol filter is perfect with smooth adjustment. Tube comes with blank insert for protecting against dust and is the later wider style for compensator. Please see my other fine and hard to find Zeiss Pol parts.
