HP 5335A frequency counter in very clean condition with few scrapes and scratches. No sticker residue. It counts it's own timebase and passes the diagnostics. The picture displaying 2.500 is the digital voltmeter option displaying my"Chinese" voltage standard and compares well to my HP 6.5 digit DVM. One picture is the counter reading my old HP function generator set to 10Mhz at 300mv. It does not respond well to signals below that level. With a basic sensitivity of-33 to-23 dBm. Signals in the frequency range of 10 Hz to 520 MHz are measured by the direct count method. Signals in the frequency range of 500 MHz to 26.5 GHz are down-converted to an IF by a heterodyne conversion technique for application to the counter circuits. The unique conversion technique employed results in high sensitivity and FM tolerance in addition to automatic amplitude discrimination. The counted IF is added to the local oscillator frequency to determine the unknown frequency for display. This counter has Option 001. Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator Time Base and Option 011. HP-IB Interface. When I got this counter. The ... moredisplay was intermittent, the HF 3.5mm connector was broken, and the LF BNC connector was a bit deformed. Reseating a circuit board solved the display problem. And I replaced the LF and HF connectors with good connectors from a non-operating instrument. I cleaned all the stickers and residue off, added bottom feet and bails and I then added Option 001(High Stability OCXO Reference Oscillator) burned-in the instrument for 24 hours, and performed all the adjustments as outlined in Chapter 5 of the Operating and Service Manual: Power Supply Adjustments. This is a fully working example of this counter. Options include the High Stability timebase. Using in this case the-hp- 10811 oven, one of the best ever made; the input level measuring facility(Opt 002) the Option 004 Digital to Analog convertor, and the HPIB interface Option 011. I have set the OCXO against a GPS standard after 24 hours of warm up but accuracy depends slightly on the unit's final position. Included is an original paper copy of the Operating and Service Manual Part Number 05342-90013. The rear panel OCXO output is at TTL level. Per the manual, in case you were expecting a sine wave.
