Heathkit VTVM Ohm Volt Multimeter Model IM - 5218 Tester
This is for a Heathkit Model IM- 5218 VTVM. It has been tested and it does work however the DC readings from a 1.5 volt battery were a little low. I did not try to measure an AC reading. As testing the AC line can be dangerous. For example if you connect the negative ground lead of the multitester to the hot or ungrounded AC lead it will blow a fuse. One of the two AC line connections in grounded through a one megaohm resistor and is usually connected to the wider AC plug end. The other thinner plug end is the hot AC connection. The AC on this meter should work but I don't know how accurate it is as it is untested. The Ohm function worked. When I tested a 5 K potentimeter it tested at just under 5 on the x 1 K scale. It appeared to be within 3 percent accurate, like these meters are supposed to be. I'm not sure if the DC readings ... morecan be improved be adjusting the DC internal Pot or not. The worst case is the DC readings are low. It is being sold as is with no inplied warante or guarantee of accuracy. If it is DOA I will insure it and a refund may take a month from the carrier, Probably the USPS or UPS ground. Please ask any questions before bidding and I will try to answer them quickly. SENCORE DVM56A MICRORANGER 4 1/2 digit Multimeter DBM, DBP
This is a used Sencore MICRORANGER DVM56A 4 1/2 digit volt meter. It was purchased from a local utility company. ACC. DCC, OHMS LO POWER, OHMS HI POWER, DCV 2KV, DCV 10KV WITH PROBE, ACV PP 2KV, ACV AVE 1KV RMS, DBM 1KV RMS, DBP 1KV RMS. The feature that I thought was the best was zeroing of your test leads when testing for ohms. I shorted the leads together and pushed the zero button and it would zero the reading to start the test. I don't think I have seen that before in a meter. I tested a 120 ohm 1% resistor and it reat 120.74 ohms. A 12 volt DC wall wart showed 16.667 volts. Unit comes without test leads. Unit is clean with minor scratches on the top. It doesn't appear to have seen much usage.

The calibration sticker is intact and shows the last calibration date as 6/2/2011, with a calibration due date of 6/2/2012. I purchased this meter shortly after it was last calibrated. Intending it to be a backup to my 8842A. But I've never needed it, and with an eventual move pending, much of by backup equipment is now up for sale. The Fluke 8840A is calibrated by data entry from the front panel. With no mechanical adjustments. Absent abuse, the calibrations are good for a great deal longer that the usual industrial calibration cycle of 1 year. I'm not a certified cal lab, and I can't guarantee calibration. But I've checked this meter against ... moremy recently calibrated Fluke 8842A, and find that it agrees virtually digit-for-digit with that meter. This meter has been unused since I purchased it. And at that time had a new display installed. It is very bright and should give many years of service. Really interesting multimeter. I've been playing with electronics for 35 years and this is the only one I've ever run across. Maybe they were popular in Canada but I've never seen one in the States. You can find specs online with some simple searching but it's primary claim to fame is the ability to measure and display 4 voltages at the same time when in 3.5 digit mode or 2 voltages in 4.5 digit mode. Alternatively. In the 3.5 digit mode, it can do 3 voltages and a resistance or several other combinations including current. Pretty neat. In the third photo you can see this in action where I'm measuring a 9 volt battery, 12 volts and 5 volts from PC power supply and measuring a 10k ohm resistor.
