All functions ... moreare working correctly. Photos show the meter measuring DC voltage and current. I measured the AC wall outlet accurately and also measured 10ohm. 150ohm, 1000ohm and 10,000 ohm resistors with expected accuracy. The meter doesn't quite zero on the Rx1 scale but didn't seem to affect the measurement of the 10 ohm resistor. Things I've done for the meter: ~Replaced both batteries ~Replaced the only paper capacitor with a new film capacitor. 0.1mf@630volts. ~Cleaned the case and polished completely with Novus#2 plastic polish. ~Polished the shoulder screws that secure the handle ~Tested all functions of the meter. This is a very nice example of a classic Simpson meter. This auction includes only the Simpson meter. The Fluke meter and test leads shown in the photos are not included. Manuals for all the Simpson meters and adaptors can be found at Simpson260 on the web.

Simpson 260 SERIES 8 VOM
I am offering the Simpson 260 Series 8 VOM front panel assembly displayed in the photo for restoration. This meter was acquired without its plastic housing and is hence offered for parts& restoration. This VOM was not tested for current. However. After installing batteries, the voltage and resistance settings were determined to be operational. The meter movement ballistics appear to be fine as well. Besides a crack to the plastic near the 9 V battery- see photos. The assembly is in acceptable physical& cosmetic condition- see photos.

The case is somewhat soiled and dingy but is in great shape with only a small abrasion on the back side. The meter and probes are in very good shape and the unit works well. The case is inscribed on the front with the letters ABCRS#413 and the meter is engraved on the back base with the same(see pictures) Due to an abrasion to the insulation. The manual is the only thing than is a little rough on the cover but the inside pages are fine. No battery leakage and comes with batteries but you may want to put alkaline batteries in it. It is arguably one of the best analog meters ever made. Then again. If you arae bidding, then you probably know tht already. This meter is in PERFECT WORKING CONDITION. That means that all ranges work just fine. I tested them all. It is in pretty good cosmetic condition as well. See the pictures. I took the back off of this one and sprayed all contacts and potentiometers down with contact cleaner. This thing is immaculate inside. See the pictures. I am throwing in a perfectly good 9 volt battery- installed. The D-cell battery that I used was from my flashlight and was not all that great but I was sure to put the leads together and adjust the zero Ohm potentiometer. I tested some ... morebatteries and a few resistors. The meter went straight to all values. I also connected the meter to a 100k ohm potentiometer. Across lugs 1 and 3 the needle went right to 100k. Then I attached one lead to the wiper and swept through the range- see the picture. Don't be buying these meters if they are not tested- unless of course. You know what you are getting into. I have seen the movement replaced on one of these back when I was in electronics school and it is not a pretty job! Shipping is by Medium Flat Rate Box. simpson 260 series 8 electrical meter
A friend gave me this simpson meter as payment for working on her car. I took it home and found that it did not work. I don't know how to fix it so I'm selling it. It's in great condition with no signs of damage on the circuit board or exterior body. It might need a new gauge face/needle or whatever its called but not shure.
