But I did plug it in and it fired ... moreup okay. Upon first powering up. Showed a display with all the items displayed on screen(pic 2) Started pushing some buttons and showing what came up on the digital display when I pushed that button. Very fine increme nts showed numbers. Which sometimes floated upward. When got to less fine increments(pics 5-6) pretty much displayed 000. See some of the pictures that show what was displayed when that button was pushed. Most of the test equipment I got in had old calibration dates, from 1994 to about 2008. This one has a c alibration sticker that shows it was calibrated on 4/19/12(todays da te is 5/16/13) and is due for calibration on 10/13. Don't know how calibrated it is. But that is what sticker says. Machine looks decent and looks like it would run just fine. B ut since I can't test. Will be selling as a parts/repair unit and sold AS IS. Hello. My name is Glen and I am listing this working Fluke 8840A with Option 05(GPIB) Unit passes self testing, and reads accurately in all modes. Unit is NOT equiped with Option 09(AC Measurement) so no AC readings can be taken with this meter. Original Fluke calibration stickers are intact and unbroken. VFD is bright and all segments work. Physical condition is good, with some marks, scuffs, dirt, and sticker residue. There is a small chip in the bottom left corner of the display but does not impact operation or visibility(see pic) Handle is intact and works, but is a little loose on the unit as is very common on these meters. The calibration sticker is intact and shows the last calibration date as 6/2/2011, with a calibration due date of 6/2/2012. I purchased this meter shortly after it was last calibrated. Intending it to be a backup to my 8842A. But I've never needed it, and with an eventual move pending, much of by backup equipment is now up for sale. The Fluke 8840A is calibrated by data entry from the front panel. With no mechanical adjustments. Absent abuse, the calibrations are good for a great deal longer that the usual industrial calibration cycle of 1 year. I'm not a certified cal lab, and I can't guarantee calibration. FLUKE 8840A 5-1/2 DIGIT MULTIMETER DMM DVM W/option 09 TRUE RMS AC
Fluke 8840A Precision DVM/DMM. True RMS AC option 09 This is a used Fluke 8840A precision DVM with option 09 true RMS AC measurements module. The case is clean with almost no markings on the case. The display is bright and has no scratches. The calibration was checked at slow sample rate on multiple ranges using available sources by comparing it to a new Agilent 34405A 5 1/2 digit DMM. DC volts were checked on the 200mV to 200V ranges. The 2000V range was not tested due to lack of a suitable voltage source. Overall. This meter was within ~6 counts of the Agilent meter. DC volts zero was ~4 counts. Ohms measurements using this meter differed from the Agilent meter by ~55 counts on the 20Meg range(~0.14% But otherwise were within less than 0.04% of the Agilent meter on all other ranges. AC volts ranges from 200mV to 200V were checked at 50kHz ... moreand 100kHz and. The 700V range was not tested due to a lack of a suitable AC voltage source. This meter was within ~120 counts of the Agilent meter on all ranges tested. When the AC volts zero was checked. It was off by ~0.200mV on the 200mV AC range and 57 counts on the other AC volt ranges. The AC mA zero is off by ~1.4mA. All AC current ranges function. But all measurements are off by about the zero offset indicating that calibration should be performed at the least for the AC mA range to properly zero it. The meter may also benefit from calibration on the 200mV AC range. I'm selling this because I no longer need it. A 2-wire probe set and power cord are included. This is a fluke 8840A that I have tested against a recently calibrated HP34401A(so I am using it as a transfer standard in conjunction with a stable power supply) Please note the plastic covering the display is missing. However the display is still bright. The manual will be sold as a print out in a binder. The unit will come with two probes(pamona brand sharp probes ~150 miliohms resistance) and a AC power cord(IEC cord) The calibration was performed by using the 34401A in 6.5 digit mode with low pass filter on 3Hz. It comes with the 05 IEEE option and the 09 AC TRMS option. It has the rack mounting. It DOES NOT have the handle available. Which is many times missing on many of these panel mounted lab meters. It has a paper copy of the User's Manual, and the IEEE Programmers Manual. It also comes with a CD which has User AND Service manuals on board, and power cord.
