It is missing 2 screws that hold the back on but the 2 that are there do a good job keeping it together. It still has both screws that go through the case and hold the meter in. But the video will show several that I did test. D oes NOT include batteries and leads. The manual is available online and easily found if you do a search on simpson260. Explanatory note: In the last part of the video. The resistor I'm testing is on another Simpson multimeter and reads 21.85K which is 21850 ohms, reading as 218 x R100 on the multimeter. Meter has been tested and appears to be accurate. 9V Battery, 120V outlet, touching leads together w/ zero resistance) Exterior has some minor scuffs, scratches and 2 or 3 small chips. Soft plastic handle is sort of warped to one side. One of the D Cell battery terminals has some leakage damage, but doesn't seem to impact operation, the rest of the interior is in excellent shape. Vintage Simpson 260 series 7 milliampmeter with leather case. Unable to test if it still functions. It is scuffed up. Mostly on the back and sides. Handle is in good shape, display glass is undamaged. Battery compartment is clean. Fuses present and as best I can see still good. The only true damage I can see is a small crack on the top left of the display cover- shown in the 3rd photo. The matching case is fuctional but beat up. All snaps are present and work. The back is split open around the edges. The corners on the top are also popped open. I have tried to describe it as best as posible. It looks good and I don't see why it won't still work. This auction is for a neat vintage Simpson 260 multi-meter. The meter itself appears to be in good vintage condition with no obvious defects or damage. There is one small screw missing to hold on the front case- but other 3 are there so not an issue. There is no manual but I believe it is a CK08455L2 The cloth covered wiring leads are also in very good condition and wiring is not frayed and has not stiffened. The alligator clips are intact and work fine. The leather carrying case has an area where stitching is missing but otherwise is in excellent condition- snaps work and leather isn't stiff. The unit has not been tested- we removed a 45 volt Ever-Ready battery with some leakage but not on any of the circuitry. Description Vintage Simpson 260 Series 5 Analog Millameter Volt Amp Ohm Meter multimeter VOM For sale a vintage Simpson 260 Series 5 meter. This is one of the best meters in Simpson lineup.Plain dial, banana plugs. This unit can be calibrated, unlike most of the new testers. It also works without batteries for everything but ohm measurement, so that it will never be out of commision when you need it most. It has none of the other bad design mistakes such as reversed banana plugs from series 7 on up. Or that stupid relay that does not protect your meter all the time(must have a good 9V inside to work) but adds to the load on the circuit. Newer digital meter will have the high input impedance of a DVM. Typically 10-22 Meg ohms, a Simpson 260 or other analog VOM will be much lower input impedance however, 5,000 to 20,000 ohms/volt. What it means ... morein practical terms, it will be much more reliable continuity tester. Or even in my testing of amps, small levels of current. My Tektronix DMM did not pickup the current powering led, and moreover led did not even light up, while Simpson completed the circuit and showed a small current. The point is if you want to measure to 0.5% then DMM is best, but most of the circuits are built with 5-10% tolerance levels, so really it does not matter if you have 3 V or 3.15 V for the testing purposes. Check my recent feedback on a similar meter. Most of the meters here on E-Bay are untested. So that you are really flipping a coin when buying those, I tested it in Amp, Ohm, AC and DC- just take a look at the pictures. Vintage 1959 Bakelite Simpson Model 260 Series 3 Multimeter Needs Love- Works! This MultiMeter is in fair condition as it has been partially refurbished. There was a problem at some point with leaked batteries. I cleaned out corrosion with lemon juice to neutralize the alkaline and the battery terminals are now working properly. As you can see in the last two pictures. The needle moves when testing a battery. I wasn't planning on including the leads as they're not in the best shape, but I decided to include them at the last minute. This is a beautiful old meter. The needle is broken off, but as you can see, it still works. With the needle repaired/replaced and a new piece of glass covering the meter itself, this will look Great! Please see images. Device is in excellent shape. No cracks or scratches that I can see, back and front. I opened the battery compartment, both batteries are empty but there is no leak, all is clean. The case has some rust on the metallic parts, one snap came apart but fortunately it is still available, I will include it, I assume it can be reattached. Also the case is in excellent shape, all things considered, with the exception of the corner straps, out of the 4 corners 2 are broken( only one is pictured, the one on the other side is the same) Original test leads included. Also the screw-in crocodile ends, they can be seen in action when I tested the device proving they work still. I summarily tested the voltmeter on the 10V and 2.5V scales, works ok and is very precise as expected, in the test it really reads exactly as the digital device. ... moreNo other tests were performed, no internal cleaning, but from the shape of the battery compartment( extremely clean) and the lack of scratches on the case I do not believe this was used much if at all. I do not believe it will need any internal cleaning. Any and all offers will be considered. Shipping at cost. I will refund any leftover shipping cost after I prepare the package. If the device will fit in a medium priority mail flat rate box I will send it like that but I rather assume it will be a large flat rate box or buy weight, whichever is better; the device weighs over 4 pounds on its own. The batteries used in the 260 Series AFP-1 are a single"D" cell, plus an Eveready 417, 15 Volt battery. It works for voltage but resistance doesn't go all the way to zero and for the Rx10k setting you will need to find a 15v battery to use this setting. I put a new Duracell D battery in it. And found the negative terminal is partly broken but still holds the battery well, one resistor on the board looks burnt, but otherwise its very clean inside and out. Ladies and Gentlemen. Up for your bidding, is my used Simpson, Series 3, 260 Volt Ohm Amp meter. I took the back off and there is no battery leakage damage. I've tested it on 110v and 240v AC and both read correctly. The 6 volt and 12 volt tests were approximately 10% low according to my cheap Harbor Freight digital VOM. The OHMS test worked well except for the OHMS x 1 mode would not zero. The original leather case is missing the top. Finally, there is one chip on the backside visible in the pictures. This is a fantastic multi-meter in fantastic condition with it's original box. Instruction manuals and original tags on the handle. Works great! Just tested before doing the listing. Multi-meter is bright and shiny. Has 2 small paint drippings on the bottom of the case that will come off but I did not mess with them. Beautiful face on the meter. Switches are tight and click from position to position as expected. This is the vintage, Simpson 260 series 6XLP. Cables are still soft and supple and have the original waxy covering still evident. Included is the original Operators Manual for the 5000 VAC probe that is crisp and clean with tight staples. Also included is the original owner's manual that is bright and clean and has tight staples and also includes the original pink warranty card that is unused and clean and bright(not shown ... morein pictures) As an added bonus the original owner's manual for the 5000 VAC AC probe, also in unused, fantastic condition. All of the stapes on the operator's manuals are tight and the manuals themselves only show minor rubbing. The original box has the foam inserts and it is pretty solid, but, it does show shelf wear, rubbing and some tearing along the opening edge flaps. There are also some holes and a large scuff on the box. This Simpson multi-meter has not seen much use. It is in fantastic condition. Please review the pictures carefully so that you can determine condition and quality for yourself. How many times are you going to find a great meter in this condition with it's original box and owner's operator's manuals?
