VINTAGE ~1960 TRIPLETT MODEL 310 VOM ORIG CASE & BOX, DCV WORKS! NEEDS BATTERIES
This is a very nice vintage early‘60s“TRIPLETT MODEL 310” volt-ohm meter that was in full working condition several years ago. DC Volts function is still working when tested with a 1.5VDC battery(see photos) But it needs replacement test leads with correct jack-ends and new internal batteries to check full functionality of the instrument. Serial# 29426. Details: Original test leads got pitched or lost( So a 2 nd set of probes w/o the correct meter-end jacks(see photos) were stripped and inserted into the“Common” VOM” jacks to check operation. I tested DC Volts with a 1.5VDC battery and the readings were correct on 2 scales(3 DCV& 12 DCV- see photos) Plastic case has no cracks that I can see– very nice condition· Original Leather“GENUINE TOP GRAIN COWHIDE MADE IN U.S.A. optional case is in EXCELLENT condition· Original box is ... morein very good condition(see photos) A service record document and a sticker inside the box indicate it’s at least 51 years old(1962) Meter is easy to read and needle still sweeps smoothly. Shows signs of use and wear as expected for its age. Visible components from the back appear to be in very good shape(see photos) Appears to be all-original components and hardware· The white common lead wire solder joint was broken to the“+” contact(upper left corner where 15V& 1.5V batteries have a common terminal– see photo) I stripped that wire and temporarily secured it to the spring steel contact point– but could not get a continuity reading. Issues: Batteries dead? probably. Other issues– I don’t know? This instrument was used regularly and with a new set of lead wires and batteries it will probably return to its’ original full working condition. It’s a very nice. The battery compartment is in good shape and clean(has 2 of the 4 screws for the compartment) Back cover is included(it was removed for the picture to show the inside) I have not tested this and it does have 1 of the batteries installed.
