I measured the AC wall outlet accurately and also measured 10ohm. 150ohm, 1000ohm and 10,000 ohm resistors with expected accuracy. The meter doesn't quite zero on the Rx1 scale but didn't seem to affect the measurement of the 10 ohm resistor. Things I've done for the meter: ~Replaced both batteries ~Replaced the only paper capacitor with a new film capacitor. 0.1mf@630volts. ~Cleaned the case and polished completely with Novus#2 plastic polish. ~Polished the shoulder screws that secure the handle ~Tested all functions of the meter. This is a very nice example of a classic Simpson meter. This auction includes only the Simpson meter. The Fluke meter and test leads shown in the photos are not included. Manuals for all the Simpson meters and adaptors can be found at Simpson260 on the web.

Meter has been tested and appears to be accurate. 9V Battery, 120V outlet, touching leads together w/ zero resistance) Exterior has some minor scuffs, scratches and 2 or 3 small chips. Soft plastic handle is sort of warped to one side. One of the D Cell battery terminals has some leakage damage, but doesn't seem to impact operation, the rest of the interior is in excellent shape. Description Vintage Simpson 260 Series 5 Analog Millameter Volt Amp Ohm Meter multimeter VOM For sale a vintage Simpson 260 Series 5 meter. This is one of the best meters in Simpson lineup.Plain dial, banana plugs. This unit can be calibrated, unlike most of the new testers. It also works without batteries for everything but ohm measurement, so that it will never be out of commision when you need it most. It has none of the other bad design mistakes such as reversed banana plugs from series 7 on up. Or that stupid relay that does not protect your meter all the time(must have a good 9V inside to work) but adds to the load on the circuit. Newer digital meter will have the high input impedance of a DVM. Typically 10-22 Meg ohms, a Simpson 260 or other analog VOM will be much lower input impedance however, 5,000 to 20,000 ohms/volt. What it means ... morein practical terms, it will be much more reliable continuity tester. Or even in my testing of amps, small levels of current. My Tektronix DMM did not pickup the current powering led, and moreover led did not even light up, while Simpson completed the circuit and showed a small current. The point is if you want to measure to 0.5% then DMM is best, but most of the circuits are built with 5-10% tolerance levels, so really it does not matter if you have 3 V or 3.15 V for the testing purposes. Check my recent feedback on a similar meter. Most of the meters here on E-Bay are untested. So that you are really flipping a coin when buying those, I tested it in Amp, Ohm, AC and DC- just take a look at the pictures. Simpson 260 Series-5 (Front Panel & Replacement meter)
Here's your chance to replace your burned out meter movement and or broken case front. I checked the meter and found it to be good. The case is in good condition(No broken missing pieces/chips or stress cracks that I can see. The threaded brass inserts that hold the back on are in good condition also. There is one small crack in the frame around the meter glass that's apparently been glued and seems to be solid. The initials(ZHS) are engraved into the meter housing. May have been used at some high school. This meter movement may work in earlier 260 models although I'm not sure. This probably won't work in later models 6-7-8 since it don't have(TAUT BAND SUSPENSION) I will pack it well so it should arrive at your destination in good condition. No International shipping.
