Clean, and accurate Heathkit IM-4120 frequency counter, period meter and event counter for your bench or"shack" The Heathkit IM-4120 is perhaps the most versatile counter/timer ever offered by the Heath Company. Its Temperature Controlled Crystal Oscillator(TCXO- lower right in 5th photo) gives it accuracy that is right on par with the most expensive equipment that was available at the time. And its several functions were enough to set it above most of the rest. The IM-4120 measures frequency to eight digits with two inputs- a 1 megohm high impedance input that's useful to above 50 MHz and a 50 ohm low impedance input that spans the frequency range from 40 MHz to 250 MHz. For very low frequency signals. Just switch to the PERIOD ... moremode and measure the period of the signal. Take the reciprocal and you have the frequency- with eight digits accuracy! For occasional events, use the counter mode to total them. What more could you want from a frequency counter! This instrument has been recently calibrated and is shown in the second photo measuring the 10 MHz output of my rubidium frequency standard.
