Here we have an older Dietzgen transit level or builders level. You are bidding on the instrument and original wooden case only. The wooden case or box is in good shape with scuffs scratches ect. And hinges work freely. The strap is detached because leather attached to box/where buckle is attached is broken, but present. This transit would be in good working condition but is missing a small part on top of instrument.previous owner told me the name but I have forgotten. Sorry! I have no idea on its use. But the bubble looks good, the cross hairs are not all clear. This instrument would be great for either a collector or for actual home or utility construction. I think it would make a great conversation piece in the office of an engineer or construction guy. Sold as is! Questions welcomed.

I've pictured that in my second-to-last picture. It looks as though someone tried to remove the lens. I say that because the two notches that you use to unscrew the ring around the lens have a mark on them. The other obvious issue is that one of the two clear-glass windows that cover the degree markings is missing. That can be seen in my last picture above. This tool was obviously used. Like I said it is in good vintage condition but there are some indicators of its age. The case especially is worn with a lot of the paint scraped off and some oxidation on the metal fixtures. The tool itself has some surface wear and slight oxidation here and there. I don't know anything about these instruments. But I was able to ascertain that it is an Engineer's Transit, and that it was made in 1948. Condition looks excellent to me. Everything appears to be functioning normally. All knobs turn freely. The compass works, the telescope focuses smoothly, and the image appears bright and sharp. Up for your consideration is a used Sokkisha Lietz DT5A Theodolite Total Station. It is in good working condition. It turns a tight angle, horizontally and vertically. It may need calibration though. The optical plumb works well. All of the lenses are in good clean condition without flaws. The light works and the battery is good. No battery charger is included. It comes in the case with rain coat. The plumb bob that looks like it was never used, and the adjustment kit. There is some damage to the side where the lietz badge is. It does affect the usability of this item. I do not know if it was dropped or someone closed the case with something in that spot. I cannot speculate that. There is a little scuff on the cover that goes over the lense and a little scuff on the top of the lense, you can see in pictures. Everything looks like it works great, when u look the the scope u can see clearly. I don't know much about this item but it looks like everything does what is intented to do. Vintage David White wye level, restored showpiece
Very nice old David White wye level. Based on the serial number. It was built in 1936. Based on the factory engraving, it, at one time, belonged to the City of Oshkosh. It appears to have been either have been very well taken care of and used very little, or(as I believe) professionally restored at some point. It is very clean, the optics and crosshairs are very good and crisp. It appears to be fully operational but I have not tested it. The horizontal motion lock and fine motion knob work fine. The leveling screws all work fine. Really a nice piece. The scope is 18" long and the unit is about 8 1/2" tall and weighs just short of 11 pounds. The instrument also comes with original brass lens cap and sunshade. It also comes in the original wood box with leather strap handle. The box measures about 20" x 7" x 10" and ... moreweighs 8 pounds. The box has some scratches, scrapes and small dings but is solid. I bought it a while back from a retired concrete contractor who was going to take it to an auction. I offered him a fair price for two instruments and now want to sell this one. I'm not an expert on these things. Bought several from an estate auction. Not sure how to work this one so I am selling it as is. Nothing is froze up. No cracks or breaks, Not sure how it goes together or if there is something lacking. Has the level on the top. It's in okay shape with some wear and very dirty, as pictured. Not seeing any mold or moisture issues. Comes with a Dow Realist 5/8" Tribach adapter 739 3 in good shape. There are a total of 5 pieces in this box, as shown. Based on the foam shapes inside case, it looks like it might have come with more pieces. Not sure. AGL label fell off the scope but can be reglued. Comes in a nice dark wood box ... morein good shape with some scratches and also dirty. Foam padding inside is deteroriated and also dirty. Latches and handle are fine.
