This tripod adapter converts a regular 5/8"x 11 tripod to use 3 1/2" x 8 instruments. I was using this with a David White LT-8300 but I don't have that anymore and I'm not planning on buying another vintage transit. It will work with any vintage transit with a large base- sometimes called a mason jar base because of it's shape. It has only seen light use as the 8300 was a teaching aid and not in field use.

This is a David White Realist TR-300 Surveying Level Transit in Case with Tripod and 25" Surveying Pole. The Transit is in VERY nice condition(could use a light cleaning) The Transit is all there but there is no manual. The case has scuffs and scratches. The tripod has scuffs and scratches. The 25" surveying pole has scuffs and scratches. The bag it goes in is dirty but holds the pole just fine. This set is all used but was well taken care of. All the straps are intact and still work. Up for sale we have this awesome vintage David White surveyors/engineers level transit with it's tripod and original box. In good pre owned condition. Does show some minor wear but just adds to the charchter of this piece. Tripod is about 5 feet tall and will be shipped separately. The box is dovetailed wood. It is coming apart on one corner but can easily be glued. Really rad machine age piece that would be great for multiple purposes. David White Meridian Realist 8010 Surveyors Level Transit with Case & Tripod
This is a vintage surveying instrument and tri-pod. I believe it is a David White Meridian Level Transit Realist 8010. The research I did on it leads me to believe it is from the early 1930's The level's case has the kind of wear you would expect to see after years and years of use on the job. Also has what looks to be a driver's license number faintly engraved on the case. The tripod also shows plenty of use but is completely functional. Legs are approximately 59 inches long. Great item for industrial look home décor as well as intended use. Please do not hesitate to ask for additional pictures or ask questions. Better to iron out details before the auction ends. Also. If you plan to be in the Portland Metro area in the next couple weeks I would be more than happy to do a no-cost pick up from my worksite in Vancouver, WA.
