Come with its red carrying case that snaps onto the base of it. The instrument is in good vintage condition and the carrying case is solid. The handle is holding fast. Serial number is 106228. This tool was obviously used. Like I said it is in good vintage condition but there are some indicators of its age. The case especially is worn with a lot of the paint scraped off and some oxidation on the metal fixtures. The tool itself has some surface wear and slight oxidation here and there. The glass has some discoloration but still looks alright. I am not an expert on this kind of tool, however I don't see any substantial damage to it. I see no scuffs on the paint on the instrument. Will come off the base to go on a tripod. The black base does have scuffs and discoloration. The case does have a crack on one side and is quite scuffed up. Instrument is fine. The case does have a a number on the top which is M 714453 which matches the base of the instrument. Vintage David White level Model 8070 with gold color case. Includes plumb line weight. The instrument is in fully functional condition. Turns angles smoothly with no creep or rebound. Diopter works, focus smooth and accurate. Crosshairs are straight and crisp. Optics slightly cloudy but usable. Case is worn but has no holes or cracks. Latches work well. Base is solid and threaded mount is clean and smooth. I used this instrument in scientific research and it functioned perfectly. It's been in storage for ten years. I can't find a serial number so I can't look up the production date but it was old when I bought it in the late 90s.

This transit just had a calibration check and is still dead on and did not need any adjustments. The transit/level was purchased new and still looks and works like brand-new. This unit was only used occasionally for quality assurance inspections and has never been in daily construction use. All adjustments and rotation are extremely smooth. Included with the transit is the original plastic case nearly new condition. Locating plumb bob, instruction manual, calibration procedure, and the standard metal and wood David White tripod. The tripod has some places where the paint has been scratched off but other than that is fully functional.
