The Selectric II was available in standard and wide-carriage sizes and in various colors, including red and blue as well as traditional neutral colors. It powers up and the motor runs. But it does not currently ... moretype. It was working up until a few years ago and has sat unused on a shelf in a climate controlled room for quite some time. At some point it stopped working. Cosmetically. It is in very nice condition. As you can see in my third photo. The thin metal tape that pulls on the ball to make it rotate is either broken or has come undone. In addition to that it most certainly needs a new ribbon and a good cleaning and may very well have other issues I am not aware of. It powers up and the motor runs. But it simply is not functioning. Recently the experience of actually"typing" has seen a renaissance due to the personal connection one experiences with the machine. There is nothing that can match the feel of an IBM Selectric typewriter. No more reprinting lists. Or printing envelopes 5 times because you just can't get it right with your PC. If you make a mistake. You can still make an easy correction by simply hitting the correction key! You can change Font type, or the size from 10 to 12, by switching out the element ball. The Courier 72- 10 pitch ball is included. This Selectric II is in beautiful condition. Only showing a bit of the 30+ years it has seen. A close inspection reveals no signs of abuse like scuffs or scratches, but there are some slight wear spots from use, mostly right on the edges. More importantly, it operates flawlessly with all leavers operating correctly and all keys striking the correct letters on the test page shown. The third row shows the correcting feature also working. Mechanically I cannot see any issues whatsoever! I checked the operation of every feature mentioned in the manual. It is in fairly good condition too, with no major wear except for the usual scuffs and some adhesive on the back. It is a nice RED color and still has some ink left in it. If you have any questions. Vintage IBM Selectric II Correcting Typewriter in Excellent Working Condition
This is an excellent example of an IBM Selectric II correcting typewriter. This typewriter has recentley been cleaned and serviced. The man who did the servicing was a retired IBM serviceman who said it was a great machine. We have tested it and everything works like it should including the correcting function. It comes with its original dust cover and a couple extra ribbons. Although we don't know condition of the ribbons. It also comes with a box of six NuKote Lift-off tape. Please note that this typewriter does not have Dual-Pitch or Half-Backspace levers though it has slots for those. I don't know if this was original or not. Though web research shows some Selectric II's without Dual-Pitch.

I personally tested this. And got some help from my mom as well since I have not had much experience with these. From the best we could tell, it just needs new tape as it will peck at the paper but makes odd feint symbols. Maybe the typing unit needs turned to get the correct symbols. I can't guarantee that it will fully work after the new tape is put on. Because as I said before, I don't have much experience with these, but that was the best we could tell. The unit does fully power on and all the buttons I tested work. The last picture included is some of the typing that was done while I was testing the unit. This is a great old machine! It's not often you see a typewriter that is bright red. I don't think I know how to use this correctly. I was able to type the message you can see in the third picture. But now I can't get it to type anything else and I don't know why. Maybe it needs oil, maybe it's a user error because I don't know what I'm doing… it comes with one box of extra ink and three boxes of extra correcting tape a.k.a. lift off tape. A really great find.

I don't know much about this typewriter except that it's an IBM CORRECTING SELECTRIC. Comes with the operating instructions and a new box of tape spools. There are 6 unused spools in the box. This typewriter does power on and seems to type. However when I put a piece of paper in and type, it doesn't move so the letter type over each other. Might be an easy fix if you know anything about these things. I do have the instruction manual but not the time to tinker with it. I'm helping a friend sell this for her business. They have been stored in the closet of a small business for 25+ years. They are very clean and smoke-free. I have tested each one by using all of the keys and buttons. This machine powers on just fine. But the cartridge does not move along. It also does not have a letter ball. I really think it is just stuck on something, but can't be sure so am selling this one BIN for 99.00. All the machines run quietly and the cases are in very good condition. They are even clean inside! You may find tiny little marks along edges. But no dents, stains, soiling, deep scratches, etc. All are correcting and have cartridges although the tapes have all been partly used.
