SMITH CORONA SL Deville 210 Spell-Right Dictionary Typewriter working but as is. Powers up and seems to work perfectly. There is no cartridge in the machine. It is missing the piece that supports the paper when typing. One of the back clips is broken on the top cover, but it stays in place without it. The cord it plugged into the socket in the back of the machine, but the socket itself it loose inside the machine for some reason. Weighs about 16 1/4 pounds before packing. That's about it in a nutshell, I believe it's usable as is, or use it for parts or repair on another unit. Sold as is, no returns.

This auction is for a used vintage working Smith Corona SL 560"Spell-Right Dictionary" electronic portable typewriter. A label on the bottom is marked"model 5A-1. 120v, 60hz, amperes 0.7amperes, Made in Singapore" along with other information. It is made of hard plastic and measures about 16" wide x 14-1/2" deep x 5" tall and weighs nearly 12 pounds. It has a fold up carry handle on the bottom, a compartment in the back for the cord, and a removeable keypad cover. The cord is about 5ft long and plugs to a standard wall outlet. I do not know when this was made but I think it is vintage. This typewriter in good used working condition. I tested only by running the demo and it seems to work as intended. I am not familiar with typewriters. So it's nice to have one that can describe itself. I have shown pictures ... moreof the printed demo page which explains the features of the typewriter. The typewriter has a few scratches and scuffs, but it looks nice. The largest and most noticeable scuff is on the keypad cover. It originally had a clear label on the front explaining features and demo operation but it is missing. Press the"code" key and"z" key simultaneously to run the demo. There is no other damage. This is a nice looking typewriter that appears to work well. I will use packing inside the typewriter to protect the print head during shipment. That must be removed before using. Local pickup is welcomed and it is free. Otherwise. This will only be shipped UPS ground, with insurance included. I cannot print a UPS label with a P O Box number, so please make sure you have a street address recorded in paypal. Typewriter works nicely. There are 2 Correctable Film Ribbons(H 21000. Same as H 63446) one used about 10- 15% and the other only used 1% to test. The Lift-Off Correcting Cassette(H 2106, same as H 63412) may be a little dried out- see in one photo how faintly it tries to correct a letter or word.

Vintage Smith Corona SL 470 Electric Typewriter Model 5A Tested and Works!
When plugged in. All of the keys depress and mark properly; I test ran some printer paper through it, and there appears to only be a small amount of ink left in the reservoir. The back of the lid is bent slightly from the power cord pokes from under. The strip of foam that was attached to the underside of the front of the lid has been removed; it melted and began to crumble. So I removed the foam and cleaned the lid. A small amount of the crumbly bits fell into the keyboard, so I took the casing apart, and cleaned as best I could without damaging the innards. The outside of the lid has some scratches, as does the outside of the actual device, but these marks detract very little from its overall appearance.

Word eraser, auto center. This machine is lightweight and easy to transport with the built-in handle. The ribbon is functional. Smith Corona made a zillion different models of small electronic typewriters in the 1980s through early 2000s. Using the same basic mechanism and accessories. They had a variety of features, from very basic thru complicated word processing. This one is at the basic end of the scale, but still does LOTS more than traditional mechanical typewriters. This one has a lot of features such as bold type. Underlining, correcting, and more.but you can use it as a"plain vanilla" typewriter by just turning it on and typing. This model SL-470 uses"H" ribbons and correction tape cassettes. The manual covers this and several other models. c) 1991. All the typing keys"work" Gentle touch like modern computer keyboard. The printwheel in it is the standard Regency-10, which looks about like this. And looks good when typed at 10 ... moreor 12 characters per inch. There are still alternate printwheels available(but NOT included) such as italics, san serif, micro(15cpi) and others. I have a few of these; inquire if interested. They change out in seconds. The cover anchors solidly to the machine though. Nothing cracked or broken on this one. The ribbon in it is partly used. Prints fine. I will include two more NEW, unused typing ribbons, OEM or generic. The correction tape cassette in it has some unused portion left, and does lift off letters.
