IBM Selectric III Correcting Electric Typewriter, Beige, works great
This is an IBM Selectric III correcting typewriter that is in great condition. It has been tested and is fully functional. Some of the number keys stick down a little and return up slowly. Needs a new correcting ribbon. It is pretty quiet when turned on and running. I have not attempted to clean it as to not cause damage. The carriage also seems to be in good working order. The lift tape looks like it's only half used but it doesn't correct. The correcting key works so it may just be a matter of replacing the tape. I have no idea when it was last serviced. Not sure about all of item's functionality. I did not do anything to the machinery/mechanisms including cleaning. Vintage IBM Executive Beige Typewriter Decent Condition Powers On Retro Mad Men
The following auction is for a vintage IBM Executive Typewriter. It is used and shows some wear. Its quite dusty and needs to be cleaned up. There are some scuffs and scratches on it. The most paint wear occurs on the front of the typewriter(where you would lean in against it. All the keys are there and the roller slide moves back and forth to move the page. I did power it on. You turn the unit on and in a few seconds it sounds nice and warmed up. I tried all the keys. They did rise up and strike the ribbon. They just wouldn't show up on the paper. I don't think they were striking the ribbon hard enough. I don't know a lot about them.You may just have to adjust some setting and it will strike harder. I may of possibly had the ribbon in the wrong spot. It seemed like when I used the space bar it hesitated a little,or maybe missed ... morea stroke while hitting it. There is a spot on the top of the unit where it looks like a piece of tape was removed. This typewriter is a well kept one owner machine belonging to a retired school teacher. She would type up recipes and one article a week for our local newspaper. It has been sitting for a while however I plugged it in and replaced the ribbon and it typed exactly as it should. It seems very solid and appears to function properly. Vintage IBM Selectric II Correcting Typewriter - Brown Beige
I personally tested this. And got some help from my mom as well since I have not had much experience with these. From the best we could tell, it just needs new tape as it will peck at the paper but makes odd feint symbols. Maybe the typing unit needs turned to get the correct symbols. I can't guarantee that it will fully work after the new tape is put on. Because as I said before, I don't have much experience with these, but that was the best we could tell. The unit does fully power on and all the buttons I tested work. The last picture included is some of the typing that was done while I was testing the unit.
