IBM Selectric ii Correcting Typewriter Beige/Tan- Model 8X made in Canada Purchased at a second hand sale The unit types and the characters are easy to read on paper. The carriage also seems to be in good working order. The lift tape looks like it's only half used but it doesn't correct. The correcting key works so it may just be a matter of replacing the tape. I have no idea when it was last serviced. Not sure about all of item's functionality. I did not do anything to the machinery/mechanisms including cleaning. There are also two additional labels on the unit aside from IBM's: service called American Typewriter SVC-E who are no longer in business and a warning label of some sort to watch hair. Jewelry, etc. from getting caught. It looks good cosmetically. On it I found the numbers 723-58-1371-b7. It appears to be just like the 72 from pictures of other machines. The typewriter works well and has some ink left on the spool. Vintage 1963 IBM Selectric Model 72 Typewriter in Wildflower Blue
Here is a sweet little 11" Selectric I from the Kennedy Administration era. Built in 1963 and survives 100% unmolested by untrained techs and the ravages of time! I have rebuilt hundreds of these"baby Selectrics" from 1976 on and rarely if ever do I find one that is as pristine as this example! I buy several here on ebay and Craigslist and the fallout rate is very high, with one good one to maybe five not-so-great units which I use as donors for the special machines that I finally do list for sale here. This particular unit should be of special interest to that Selectric afficiano or ex-IBMer for the stunning untouched condition it remains in. I completely overhauled it and only had to check the calibrations as they were perfect and unnecessary to adjust. A true rarety. Over the years I have marveled at these early machine's ... morecomplexity compared to later, more simplified versions and the higher grade of metals used and the liberal use of stainless tool steel for critical printhead parts along with a much higher built quality. Rare IBM Correcting Selectric III Fiftieth Anniversary Model Typewriter 607X
You would not know this(Ball) Typewriter was over 30 years old. I checked all they keys and the Q sticks slightly. The correction tape and typing tape is still in it and works fine. Light scuffs from normal use. But nothing that stands out. For the writer that just can't bring themselves' to using a computer. The sound alone brings back memories. Thanks

Vintage IBM SELECTRIC Typewriter Model 71 Green - For Parts/Repair?
US Shipping Only! This auction is for a vintage IBM Selectric typewriter in green. It is NOT WORKING correctly. It powers on but is stuck on the left side and doesn't do anything but click. There is an original manual and box of font heads included. One of the heads has a broken piece at the top of it. There is also a cover which has a couple holes in it. I haven't used this typewriter for probably 15 or 20 years. It was working when I stopped using it so I don't know what is wrong with it. This typewriter has been sitting in storage. It will need a cleaning and possibly some light maintenance. My personal experience are as follows: I cleaned the keys and they type well. The metal ball containing the letters and numbers. Works. The shift key works. There is ribbon. I have never used this type of typewriter before so I am not sure what else to check on it. I will be posting a video showing what it does. There is an online manual available if you choose to download that I came across while doing a Google search. I was given some information on this typewriter that"by pushing the chrome handles inward they could be adjusted by sliding the handles to the desired margins. This machine is a fabric model and will not make corrections. The person giving me this information also stated. this machine will not accept correction tape" ... moreI do appreciate the information and I do update the information as I receive it. This information I recently found online about this model of type writer: Correcting and lift-off options: The traditional late-1970s way to make corrections when typing was to use Ko-Rec-Type. A material like carbon paper, but white. You would hold a piece of Ko-Rec-Type between the typewriter mechanism and the paper, and restrike the incorrect letter, depositing white pigment on top of it. This worked with any kind of typewriter. The Correcting Selectric introduced lift-off tape. Which would actually remove carbon-ribbon ink from paper. Soon afterward(when Sperry Remington came out with their Selectric clone that LACKED the correcting feature) Lift-off tape became available in 1-by-2-inch tabs like Ko-Rec-Type. As far as I know, it is no longer made, but you can buy a roll of lift-off tape(any brand) and cut it into small pieces for handheld use. Lift-off tape works well if you are typing on smooth paper. With cheap laser printer paper. A lift-off correction may take several tries. With Tech III ribbons you can't use lift-off tape. Instead. IBM made cover-up tape(color-coded blue like

Please visit and like us at our IBM Selectric typewriter with 6 font balls and a unused ribbon Tested; it starts up and makes a typewriter noise but i can't get any letters on paper! I have no idea what the problem is and i'm not going to tamper with it. What i do know is that it's uncommon to find an original AZERTY keyboard This machine comes out of the storage/archive of a Belgian University.
