Super Weston voitmeter. The top of the meter is what is so amazing to me. There is a little wear around the top. It does look like around the base has been repainted. Underneath on the base there is still some paper labeling. There is some overspray around the bottom rim. But still some paint loss. The top glass is clear, the nside paper indicator is yellowed with age, but still very legible and in great shape. The top is6 3/4 inches, 4 inches tall. I don't know if it works or not. But to me that is not important,it is the workmanship of the 1800. The earliest patent date is 1888 and the last is 1898. it weighs approx. 10 or 15. Here is a real old vintage meter. It was made by Weston Electric in Newark NJ. USA. The pat. date is Nov.8 1888. For as old as it is it is in fairly good shape. I don't know if you would call the face brass or not. It is a heavy metal like brass but has more of a chrome color to it with may be a little brass in it.One of the little rubber feet is missing for when you set it up the one way. This would make a good display piece.It is not very often you find them as old as this.The meter goes to 140 volt. It can read positive or negative. I put 14 volts to it and the needle did move. The I reversed the polarity and the needle moved the other way. I believe it is in working order.I think the case is oak. it all most looks like Tiger Oak. Feel free to email questions or comments.

Antique Electrical/Steampunk Lot..Electric Pencil, Weston Voltmeter & CDR Rotor
For your consideration is a lot of 3 different antique electrical devices. First item is a CDR Rotor Model TR-11 115 volt made by The Radiart Corp. Indoor antenna rotor control unit. Compass rose on the front and 4 screw terminals on back. The second item is a Weston Voltmeter Model 280 with original leather case. Leather case is missing the front latch and the stitching is missing on one side. Voltmeter shows some wear. Latest patented date is July 1917. Third item is a 6 volt electric marking pencil with original box. Pencil has a wired terminal connection attached to a cloth wire ending with an alligator clip. I have not tested any of the items. They are being sold as is.

Up for your consideration is this piece of antique Western Electric telephone test equipment. This is a very early piece that is in relatively very good condition for its age. The Western Electric case is made to house the Weston voltmeter. The interior of the casing is lined with wool cloth. Similar to the bottom of the candlestick phones from the same era. There's a little support bar that unscrews to allow the meter to me installed. The original leads and leather strap and buckle are included with the meter. The leather strap that is used to mount around the technician's neck is worn as seen in the pictures. The Weston meter is a model 280 good for 0-150 volts D.C. depending on what scale is being used. It actually has a good idea behind it: you use a revolving plate on the back that partially covers the selenium cell, and that calibrates the meter for the film speed(a faster speed uncovers more of the cell, so the reading is higher. Neat idea) There's a knob on the side, and you turn the knob until your desired ... moreshutter speed shows up, and then direct read the aperture. Or turn the knob until you find an aperture you like, and read the resulting shutter speed. This is one of the most unusually styled meters. Like other Westons. The cell is on the back and it was meant to be held upright at eye-level. So you hold the bottom portion(you can see the grip contours on the sides) and your thumb can roll the knob, making it one-handed. The truly neat thing is that the roll knob is on both sides, so you can use it in either hand. Most meters are laid out for right-handed use. FOR STILL& MOVIES This auction is for a vintage 1950's Selenium Cell Photocell light meter made by WESTON ELECTRIC CO. This meter was all new in the late 1950's. It was designed to fit into the palm of the hand. With a small meter window on top and a very large calculator dial on the back. INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU SEE HERE Condition: Very Good! The meter appears to be in DARN GOOD condition for its age. It did appear to function. I aimed at a light source. The needle moved. It is over 60 years old. I find these old pieces fascinating. I bought two of these at auction some time ago. Now I'm moving out of Victorian to a beach house and there just isn't enough room.
